Philippine Marketing Association Brings You First Ever Unconference In Asia

10/23/17

When you hear of someone attending a conference, the first thing that comes to mind is sitting all day listening to speakers. Ho-hum. Well, the Philippine Marketing Association has set a benchmark of conference in the Philippines with the Fifty Shades of Marketing in 2015 and is now bringing a new and unusual format for 2017.

"When you play the Game of Thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground."

If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, you'd be amazed at the countless parallelism between the world of Game of Thrones and marketing.  Just like in GOT, you either win the marketing battle or get your market shares eaten up. There is also no middle ground.

Game of Marketing: 1st Asian Marketing Unconference is themed after the popular TV Series Game of Thrones. Aside from the interesting theme, it is also an "unconference". It means that it is loosely structured emphasizing the informal exchange of information and ideas between participants. There is no program and the agenda is decided on by the participants. They will vote for the topics and engage in a free-wheeling moderated discussion.

"I am proud to organize the first Asian Unconference, an unstructured conference where topics are discussed, voted on, and decided before the conference officially starts. We are spicing up this Unconference by playing around the Game of Thrones TV series. GOT fans would understand the many marketing learning in the series, and we intend to bring that to life in this first of its kind Unconference," says Donald Lim, Country CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Philippines, CPM Asia Pacific, and Over-all Chairman of the 48th PMA National Marketing Conference.

Game of Marketing 1st Asian Marketing Unconference will take place on November 27 and 28, 2017 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.

Day One will be kicked off with masterclass speakers David Hearn, Regional Head of Strategy, Dentsu X Asia Pacific and Hermawan Kartajaya, Co-Founder of Asia Marketing Federation, President of Indonesia Council for Small Business, and President of ACSB. Adding to this line up of Marketing Greats is Merlee Jayme, Chairmom / Chief Creative Officer of Dentsu Jayme Syfu who will introduce the Three Dragons of Creativity, Meng Liu, Head of Asia and Oceania Networks of United Nations Global Compact will discuss Making Global Goals Local Business. Over-all Chairman of the 48th PMA National Marketing Conference Donald Lim will be the Closing Keynote speaker. Topics to be discussed on day two will be voted also on day one.
