Pru Life UK believes that a healthy pregnancy produces healthy children. The British life insurer takes one step backward to support children even at the pre-natal stage. Recently, the company donated three portable ultrasound machines to be used in medical missions for communities in remote areas. 

The donation is in partnership with Alalay sa Kaunlaran (ASKI) Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the promotion and development of micro and small- to medium-sized enterprise and the delivery of social services, as well as MyDocNow, which integrates technology and the improved availability of healthcare to provide benefits across many areas of the healthcare system.

“The three brand new units of GE Healthcare Vscan Access Ultrasound Scanners that Pru Life UK donated will definitely help us in identifying high risk pregnancies and other potential medical conditions during our medical missions,” said ASKI Chairwoman and President Maria Calling. “This will definitely help us in our next medical mission in Aurora.”

“Multinationals operating in their adopted countries have a responsibility to listen and understand the communities they serve. Pru Life UK reaches out to communities across the country, especially the underprivileged ones, to help empower them and uplift their lives. This is how we do our part in nation building,” said Pru Life UK President and CEO Antonio De Rosas. 

He explains that one of the consequences of high poverty levels in the Philippines is the higher-than-expected infant mortality rate, and this can be significantly reduced if most non-medically supervised births can be accessed by qualified medical practitioners, even at the pre-natal stage. 

“Pru Life UK has various community programs for children, such as the Cha-Ching Financial Literacy for the Youth Program and First Read, but we also saw the importance of taking a step back and providing them support at an early stage, including proper pre-natal care,” he continued. “This is the first step in building the children’s holistic well-being to help them succeed in their future.”

The partnership with ASKI Foundation and MyDocNow is in line with the Company’s community initiatives which are focused on three key pillars: children, education, and disaster preparedness and recovery. Sunpiology got even better this year! 

The highly-anticipated annual fun run organized by Sun Life Financial Philippines, will soon cater to both running and cycling enthusiasts, as it evolves into a two-fold event dubbed Sunpiology Duo.

#SunpiologyDUO will come in two parts: Sun Life Cycle PH @BGC and Sun Life Resolution Run.

Sun Life Cycle PH will take place on November 18, 2017 at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. Sun Life will be mounting the event in partnership with Sunrise Events, Inc., which is known for its flagship projects that focus on race organization and sports tourism. Prudence Foundation, the regional community investment arm of Prudential Corporation Asia (2378.HK), together with International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and National Geographic (NatGeo), today announced the launch of its SAFE STEPS First Aid programme. This is a first of its kind, pan-Asia programme to promote awareness and increase knowledge of first aid skills across the region.

Building on the success of its previous two SAFE STEPS programmes, which focus on natural disasters and road safety, SAFE STEPS First Aid aims to provide essential first aid information to millions of people throughout Asia. 

Today’s launch also coincides with the IFRC’s World First Aid Day, a globally recognized day with the aim of promoting and advocating knowledge of first aid to build people’s capacity to respond appropriately to emergencies when needed.

Almost 16,000 people die from injuries around the world every single day. Thousands more survive but many with permanent debilitating after effects. Moreover, while homes are often perceived as safe places, this is where 80 percent of accidents occur. Through SAFE STEPS First Aid, Prudence Foundation and its partners hope to address this issue by educating people on easy-to-understand first aid concepts, enabling them to be prepared to save a life.

At its core, SAFE STEPS First Aid comprises a series of six one-minute public service announcement videos, each focused on building knowledge of a core first aid topic – broken bones, burns, choking, CPR, severe bleeding and stroke – providing critical guidance on what to do in a medical emergency. Each announcement features one of three SAFE STEPS First Aid ambassadors, with whom Prudence Foundation has chosen to partner for their dedication to saving people in their everyday life. They are doctor and humanitarian, Dr Maria Guevara, Bali-based lifeguard, Marshello Aryafara, and a paramedic from Singapore, Wee Chee Ong. 

“Prudence Foundation, as part of Prudential, aims to help families and communities be more safe, secure and resilient,” said Donald Kanak, Chairman of Prudence Foundation. “We are pleased to launch SAFE STEPS First Aid to promote critical life-saving information and basic first aid skills to as many people as possible. Building on our successful partnership with the IFRC and NatGeo, we believe the new programme will help people be better prepared to respond to a life-threatening situation, as every second or minute can make the difference between life and death.”

The public service announcements will be broadcast on National Geographic Channel and FOX network channels. It will start airing today on 17 channels across the FOX Networks Group Asia portfolio, reaching viewers in over 80 million households across the region. The video content will also be made available in nine local languages – Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Malaysia, Burmese, Cantonese, Filipino, Khmer, Mandarin, Thai and Vietnamese. In addition, infographics and other informative materials will be rolled out through partnerships with schools, universities, government and non-government organisations and private sector companies throughout the region. Prudence Foundation invests to support the development of more resilient communities throughout the region. SAFE STEPS Natural Disasters was launched in May 2014 with Manny Pacquiao, world champion boxer, providing essential tips on what to do in the event of natural disasters such as typhoons, floods, earthquakes and fires as well as how to prepare an emergency kit. Launched in February 2016, SAFE STEPS Road Safety features Michelle Yeoh, acclaimed producer, actress and principal partner of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile. I've been advocating working from home ever since I embraced this 2008. Who wouldn't want a decent-paying job without leaving the house? This is just a dream scenario for most of us and an ideal setup for single moms who want to spend quality time with their kids while earning. Here's an inspiring story of Teacher Ruby Ann and how working from home changed her life.

Before working as an online English teacher, I worked for a Call Center company. I would always change BPO companies because of the stress and the working hours. I struggled following a set schedule, particularly the ‘graveyard’ shifts. Personally, I don’t really prefer having fixed working hours. So most of the time, after a couple of months, I would get demotivated and move to a new company. 

Being a working mom with four kids is very difficult. I don’t get to see them as much as I want because of my work. When I get home, they would be in school. 

A cousin of mine, who is an online English teacher of Bibo told me to try ESL teaching. Knowing my preference for a flexible schedule, she said that the job is perfect for me. Aside from that, it’s also an advantage that I know how to speak Japanese (since I lived there before) which is also where the majority of Bibo’s students are from. 

When she mentioned that I can plot my own schedule, that made me decide to give it a shot. I started as a part time teacher since I was also busy managing our family business. When I became a single mom, that’s when I started teaching full time, so I can also have time to take care of them.

Starting with Bibo

I easily fell in love with working as a teacher. I really enjoy my classes, especially with my Japanese students. Most of my Japanese students are from Tokyo so it's easier for me to start a conversation and build a rapport. I lived there for a while and I’m familiar with the culture. The majority of my students are teenagers and it is very easy to relate to them and create common ground since we share a lot of common interests. 

Just like other moms, I also love watching Korean drama shows which my Korean students enjoy watching too. Talking about it makes me feel like I’m not working. 

Time and Flexibility

What I love the most about my job is the fact that I can work anytime I want, and I always get booked every time I open my classes. Even if students cancel 30 mins before the class, it will still get booked right away.

After getting familiarized with the teaching process and the learning materials. I realized that working as an online English teacher can be easy. My preparations for classes are very minimal. You just need to be attentive to your students to know what they need and what kind of atmosphere will work with them. Some students prefer a more serious class, other students prefer a more interactive and lively atmosphere. 

This is something that you can learn from experience. It is important that you know their preference. I also make mistakes - it is important to learn from them and remember that this is work and you have to be professional.

Financial growth and independence

Personally, the financial capacity and liberty that this job has brought me is very important. I feel more confident to move knowing I have a reliable source of income. When Bibo became a constant thing for me, that’s when I decided that I can be a single mom and that me and my kids will be alright. Before, I was very scared. 

Being able to send my kids to a private school is my biggest achievement and investment. As a single mom, doing so is not very easy. I am not very materialistic. I value education above all, because I want them to study and and have a better future.

Home-based online English teaching is perfect for single moms like me. You can work as a part-timer and earn extra income, or you can do full time if you want to balance your time in taking care of your kids while working. 

I am glad that I have grabbed this opportunity. Since side effects paired with adverse effects can be fatal and need to be reversed or given antidote immediately, a very extra cautious effort not to interchange them with the main effects in the prescription process must be always observed. After all, it’s the lives of patients at stake here. 

It’s ironic to note that people who seek treatments for their ailments or to prolong their lives become sicker or morbidly end up six feet underground simply because of such medical error. 60 g All Purpose Flour

45 g White Sugar 

45 g Cocoa Powder

1 piece Egg, 

45 ml Milk, 

30 ml Canola Oil

15 ml Melted Butter

3 pieces of 20 g Milk Chocolate balls

pinch of salt 

1.5 L Vanilla Tub Ice Cream 

Sift the flour, salt, and cocoa powder, then mix it all together. 

Separate the yolk from egg whites, then whip the egg whites to peak and cream the yolk with sugar. Combine milk, oil, and butter into the egg whites, then slowly add the flour mix into the bowl, after which, fold the egg yolks within the mix until every ingredient is incorporated.

Ceramic mugs, or alternatively, silicone molds can be used, just make sure that it is lined with butter before filling it in with the mix. Fill half of the mold then put in a chocolate ball in the center, before filling it up again with the mix.

The Sun Life Aquathlon is designed to be the perfect race for the newbie who wishes to get his/her feet wet in multisport, while it gives the race-honed triathlete a variation in his/her training program. There will be two categories: the “Aqua Full,” which features a 400-meter swim and a 5-km run; and the “Aqua Lite,” which consists of a 200-meter swim and a 3-km run.

The race will kick off at the Makati Aqua Sports Arena (MASA), where aquathletes will start with the swim in the 50-meter long MASA pool, before heading to the transition area to don their running gear. After crossing the overpass that links MASA to the University of Makati (UMak), they will then complete the run in UMak’s track, before finally making their way to the finish line.

Registration for the Sun Life Aquathlon opened only last June 1 and will last until August 15 or until slots last. This article is actually for me. I have a Pinterest account and I spend hours browsing through pins but my own account doesn't have anything pinned yet. Is Pinterest really beneficial to bloggers?

Pinterest drives traffic

Who doesn't like traffic? I'm not asking the commuters here. People have been investing a lot of time to gain followers on their facebook pages. I maintain a Facebook page and a Twitter account. I do get some referral traffic there but the figure is not impressive. I guess most people who are on Facebook are not too keen on clicking the article link.  The people who are on Pinterest are those who love to read click-worthy contents.

Pinterest makes you reach desired audience better

Launched in 2010, Pinterest announced 175 million monthly active users as of March 2017.  Pinners can easily upload contents that link back to their websites. Categories make it organized and easier to browse through pins catering to a specific interest. 

Pinterest contents are always visible

Unlike Facebook or Twitter where your posts go to the bottom after a while, your Pinterest contents show up in the newsfeed and get new impressions everytime they are repinned or liked. It means website visits even for articles that you have written months ago.

Is it too late for me to start using Pinterest? I say, not. Better late than never.

From Trade Show To Road Show
