TechLife Pad Plus 12 Review: My Favorite Summer Sidekick

Sunday, May 18, 2025

Let me just say it: I did not expect a tablet to become my go-to summer essential, but here we are—and the TechLife Pad Plus 12" is officially glued to my hand.

Whether I’m lounging on the porch with a smoothie, scrolling through Pinterest for my content inspo, or binge-watching shows during long road trips, this tablet has proven to be more than just a sleek piece of tech. It’s like having a mini entertainment center, productivity hub, and creative studio all rolled into one ultra-portable device.

Big Screen, Big Vibes

First off, the 12-inch 2K display is a total game-changer. It’s crisp, vibrant, and bright enough to use even under the sun (or, realistically, near a window with the blinds half-open because I'm not that outdoorsy). Watching Netflix while curled up in a hammock? 10/10 experience. Reading e-books by the pool? So comfy and easy on the eyes.

AI Camera = Quick Summer Snaps

Okay, here’s a feature I didn’t think I’d use much—but I was wrong. The 8MP AI-powered rear camera actually comes in handy more than you’d think. It’s perfect for quick snaps of food during beachside lunches, flat lays of my summer reads, or even scanning documents while on a workcation. The AI optimization really helps balance lighting and colors, especially under harsh sunlight.

The 5MP front camera is solid for Zoom calls or snapping selfies in decent light (bonus: there's beauty mode for those no-makeup days!). It’s not going to replace your main phone camera, but for casual content and productivity? It’s more than enough.

Sounds Like Summer

I wasn’t expecting much in the audio department, but the quad speakers with Dolby Atmos are surprisingly rich. It fills a room with sound, whether I’m blasting my summer playlist or tuning in to a yoga class. No need for extra Bluetooth speakers—this baby handles it all.

Easy on the Workflow (and the Brain)

On those days when I have to sneak in some work (ugh, emails), the TechLife Pad Plus doesn’t disappoint. Paired with a Bluetooth keyboard, it feels almost like a lightweight laptop. Plus, with 16GB* of RAM and a smooth Helio G91 processor, it multitasks like a champ—no lag, no drama.

Pro tip: the Split Screen function is a lifesaver when you’re trying to watch YouTube and answer messages at the same time.

Storage = Summer Memories

With 256GB storage (expandable up to 2TB!), I can download as many movies, playlists, and travel photos as my heart desires. It’s the perfect digital scrapbook for summer adventures—or just capturing my cat doing something weird every other hour.

Battery for Days

No exaggeration—the 8,000mAh battery lasts me all day. I brought it on a swimming trip and didn’t have to charge it once until I got home. If your summer plans involve camping, long flights, or just being far from outlets, this is a huge win.

Final Thoughts: Summer’s Unexpected MVP
@tiktokniroselle The TechLife Pad Plus 12" is that one thing I didn’t know I needed this summer. It’s functional, affordable, and just so easy to fit into every part of my routine—whether it’s content creation, casual scrolling, or real productivity on the fly. If you’re looking to upgrade your tech game this season without breaking the bank, this tablet might just be your ultimate summer fling. #CoolTechAllSummer #TechLifePH #MakeItSimple #RoselleWrites @techlifeph #tablet ♬ Summer Vibes - GRLN

Embracing Aging With Confidence: My Tailored Skin Treatments at Montesa Medical Group

Saturday, April 05, 2025

At 48, skincare isn’t just about looking good—it’s about feeling confident in your own skin. Aging is a privilege, and taking care of your skin is one of the best ways to embrace this stage of life with grace and confidence.

Over the years, I’ve been doing skincare the wrong way. I recently visited Montesa Medical Group Tomas Morato and it was a privilege meeting Dr. Anna Marie Montesa. I learned that skincare isn’t about erasing lines or chasing trends; it’s about nurturing and protecting your skin so it reflects your inner vitality.

1. Hydration is Everything

One of the most significant changes I noticed as I reached my late 40s was how my skin craved moisture. Fine lines become more noticeable when my skin is dry, so hydration has become my top priority. I do drink plenty of water but I don't moisturize my skin regularly. Dr. Anna emphasized the importance of hydrating the skin.

2. Gentle Cleansing is Key

Gone are the days of harsh exfoliants and stripping cleansers. Now, I opt for a gentle, hydrating cleanser that removes dirt without compromising my skin barrier. I used to think that facial scrubs and exfoliating soaps are better in cleansing my skin. These products are actually doing more harm than good.

3. Sun Protection is Non-Negotiable

If there’s one skincare tip I wish I had taken more seriously in my 20s, it’s sunscreen. Sun damage is one of the biggest culprits of premature aging. I am guilty of (most of the time) not wearing sunscreen when I play tennis, swim, or run errands. And I don't use umbrella because I always think it's just a short walk from the parking to wherever I'm going.

After my consultation with Dr. Anna, I never leave the house without applying a broad-spectrum SPF50.

4. Retinol is My Best Friend

I'm hesitant to use retinol. The main reason is I am afraid it could damage my skin. Well, the fear is really because I'm uninformed about the benefits of retinol. I learned that it helps boost collagen production, smooth out fine lines, and improve skin texture.

I will finally embrace retinol, and I'm sure it will be a game-changer. Dr. Anna advised I start slow, using a gentle retinol twice a week, and gradually worked up to every other night. The key is to pair it with a good moisturizer to avoid dryness.

5. A Healthy Lifestyle Reflects on Your Skin

Skincare isn’t just about what you put on your face—it’s about how you treat your body. Dr. Anna said, "You've already enjoyed your carefree years when you were young. It's time to take more seriously living a healthy lifestyle."

I’ve noticed that when I eat a balanced diet rich in antioxidants, my skin glows. Getting enough sleep and managing stress also play a huge role. Self-care routines keep my skin and mind in harmony.

6. Less is More

With so many new skincare trends popping up, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. It has always been a struggle for me to maintain a skincare routine. But at 48, I’ve found that simplicity is key. Start simple. I focus on the essential -- gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Consistency always wins over complicated routines.

Aging is a beautiful journey, and my skincare routine is all about celebrating the skin I’m in. Instead of chasing youth, I choose to nourish, protect, and appreciate my skin for everything it does for me. My best advice is to never experiment on skincare. Always consult a professional. Dr. Anna offered tailored treatments based on her expert evaluation of my skin condition.

Refirme Skin Tightening

MMG Refirme Skin Tightening

I’ll admit it—I used to stare at my reflection a little too long, gently pulling back the skin on my cheeks, wondering if there was a way to reclaim the firmness of my younger years. The softening of my jawline and the hint of a double chin weren’t dramatic, but they were enough to make me wonder if I needed something to be done.

Skeptical but hopeful, I had my first session, not quite knowing what to expect. Unlike invasive procedures that require downtime, Refirme uses radiofrequency to stimulate collagen production, gradually tightening the skin. It promised to be painless, effective, and—best of all—natural-looking.

As I lay on the treatment bed, the warmth of the device felt oddly comforting. The aesthetician moved it gently across my cheeks and jawline, and within minutes, I could already feel a slight sensation of firmness. There was no discomfort, no burning—just a soothing heat that made me relax. The best part? No pain or irritation afterward. I could go about my day as if nothing had happened, except I knew something was changing beneath the surface.

If you’ve ever considered skin tightening but worried about harsh procedures, Refirme might just be the secret weapon you’ve been looking for. Because feeling good in your skin? That’s the real beauty boost.

Verucca Vulgaris

It started as a tiny bump on my upper right cheek—barely noticeable at first. I thought it was just a pimple, but when it didn’t go away and actually got rougher, I knew something was off. Soon it got bigger. That’s when panic set in.

I showed this to Dr. Anna and she said it's verruca vulgaris. The relief I felt just hearing, “We can treat this,” was immeasurable. She recommended laser therapy since it was precise and would minimize scarring. The procedure was quick, with only a mild sting as the laser targeted the wart.

Seek professional treatment if you notice facial warts, because trust me—there’s nothing more freeing than looking in the mirror and not worrying what you see.

Mosaic Fractional Laser

For as long as I can remember, my skin has been a major source of frustration. Enlarged pores, fine lines creeping in, and the stubborn acne marks that refused to fade no matter what serums or creams I tried—it felt like an uphill battle. No filter or makeup could fully erase my insecurities, and I longed for a real, lasting solution.

I’ll admit, I was nervous. The thought of a laser treatment sounded intense, but I decided to take the plunge. During the consultation, Dr. Anna explained that the Mosaic Fractional Laser works by creating tiny micro-injuries in the skin, triggering collagen production and promoting cell renewal. The promise? Smoother, clearer, and tighter skin over time.

The procedure itself was surprisingly tolerable. My face was numbed with a topical cream, so the sensation was more of a warm tingling than actual pain. As the laser passed over my skin, I could feel tiny pulses, but nothing unbearable. The session was over in less than an hour, and while my face looked red and felt a bit sunburned, I knew this was just the beginning of the transformation.

The next few days were a mix of excitement and patience. My skin felt rough as it healed, and there was some mild redness, but by the end of the first week, I started to see the magic happen. My acne marks looked lighter, my pores appeared smaller, and my skin texture was smoother than it had been in years.

If you’ve been struggling with the same skin concerns, Mosaic Fractional Laser might just be the answer you've been looking for. It’s not an overnight fix, but trust me—the wait is worth it.

Listen to your skin and give it the love it deserves. After all, confidence and self-care are the true secrets to timeless beauty. LUMOS Tablet Review: A Surprisingly Affordable Game-Changer

Thursday, April 03, 2025

I’ll be honest. I was super excited when I first got my hands on the LUMOS Tablet. With so many affordable tablets on the market, most tend to skimp on either performance or usability. But after using the LUMOS Tablet for a while, I have to say—it’s a solid little device that punches way above its price tag!

First Impressions: Sleek and Lightweight

Right out of the box, the 10.1-inch display caught my attention. It’s slim, lightweight, and easy to carry, which makes it perfect for tossing into a bag without worrying about extra bulk.

One of my favorite things? The LUMOS Tablet Bundle. Instead of just the tablet, you get a Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, stylus pen, and a case cover that doubles as a stand. Basically, it turns this tablet into a mini-laptop, which is a huge plus for someone like me who works from anywhere (WFA). I don't even need to bring my laptop when I'm on a working vacation.

Performance: Snappy for Everyday Use

Let’s talk specs. The tablet packs 8GB of RAM (which is rare in budget tablets), and you can definitely feel the difference. Apps open quickly, multitasking is smooth, and there’s no frustrating lag when switching between tasks.

I mainly used it for:

Work on the go – With WPS Office and Google Docs, I managed to draft emails and edit documents without needing my laptop.

Netflix and YouTube – The 4K-supported IPS display made streaming surprisingly enjoyable.

Online games - It’s not a gaming tablet but it runs smoothly. I enjoy playing my favorite Gardenscapes and Bingo Blitz whenever I need a break from work.

Battery Life: All-Day Use? Yes, Please!

One of my biggest pet peeves with tablets is having to charge them constantly. Thankfully, the 6000 mAh battery on the LUMOS Tablet lasts around 8 hours on moderate use. I took it on a café for a quick work session, watched videos, browsed the web, and it still had juice left by the evening.

Extra Features That I Loved

Screen Mirroring – I didn’t expect this feature at all! You can wirelessly cast the tablet to your Smart TV or your LUMOS Projector, making it perfect for streaming movies or showing presentations.

Parental Controls – If you’re a parent, you’ll love that YouTube Kids and other parental settings that are built in, making it a safe device for kids. I can share this with my 9-year old nephew without worry.

Final Verdict: Is the LUMOS Tablet Worth It?

For its PhP6,999 price tag, the LUMOS Tablet is an absolute steal. It’s not just a budget tablet—it’s a well-rounded device that offers great performance, a solid display, and useful accessories at an affordable price.

If you prefer the LUMOS Tablet Bundle with keyboard, mouse, pen, and case cover, you can get it for only PhP8,499.

If you’re looking for a tablet for work, study, entertainment, or casual browsing, this one’s a great pick. With its budget-friendly price, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with its top-notch performance!

Would I recommend it? 100% YES.

The vivo V40 is also equipped with an impressive AI Eraser that is very useful to me as a content creator. This feature, which requires an online connection, intelligently removes unwanted objects from the background of your photos, allowing you to clean up and perfect your shots effortlessly.

These AI features make photography easy, even if you’re new to mobile photography. Just point, shoot, and let the vivo V40's intelligent features handle the rest, guaranteeing you get the best shot possible.

realme C65 First Impressions

Thursday, June 13, 2024

realme is set to introduce the C65 to the Philippines, marking its latest entry-level offering. This new budget phone stands out with a fresh design, diverging from the usual realme aesthetic while ensuring all the essential features are covered.

The realme C65 features a rectangular camera module with three rings giving it a distinctive look. The Starlight Black color I received has an eye-catching glittery finish with a glossy texture. It is also available in Starlight Purple. I love that it doesn't leave any fingerprints and smudges even though it is glossy. I need not wipe it to keep it looking clean.

Additionally, the C65 boasts an IP54 rating, making it more resilient in rainy conditions compared to its predecessor. The phone is also thinner and lighter than the C55, enhancing its portability and comfort. realme has introduced the Rainwater Smart Touch Feature, which enhances usability even when the screen is wet.

The C65 has a USB-C port, headphone jack, and loudspeaker at the bottom. Notably, the power button doubles as a fingerprint scanner and can be customized for various functions.

The C65 is powered by a Helio G85 processor, paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. While the Helio G85 is an older processor, it performs adequately for most tasks as long as heavy gaming is not involved.

The C65 retains the same 5000mAh battery as its predecessor but now supports 45w fast charging, reducing the time needed to recharge.

The price will be announced during the FB Live launch on June 13 and we are all curious how much it will cost in the Philippines.

realme Note 50 Review: Unveiling the Value-Packed Entry-Level Smartphone

Monday, January 22, 2024

realme has built a reputation for delivering budget-friendly smartphones with impressive performance, and the realme Note 50 is no exception. I was given the chance to review the realme Note 50 before its launch in the market and in this article I'll delve into the design, display, camera capabilities, software, performance, and battery life of this entry-level device to help you make an informed decision.

The realme Note 50 sports a modest yet appealing design. The glass-like glossy finish on the top and matte-like finish at the bottom give it a distinctive look. Available in Sky Blue and Midnight Black, the device measures just 7.99mm in thickness and weighs a mere 187 grams, making it slim and lightweight. While it tends to be slippery, the inclusion of a free case resolves this issue, ensuring a secure grip.

The frame houses a dual SIM slot with a dedicated microSD slot for expandable storage of up to 2TB. On the right side, you'll find the volume rockers and a power button with an integrated fingerprint sensor, providing convenient and secure access. The bottom features a speaker grille, 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone, and a USB-C port.

The realme Note 50 boasts a 6.74" HD+ LCD panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. Although occasional lags may occur during heavy multitasking, the display delivers vibrant visuals for an enjoyable viewing experience. With 560 nits of brightness, outdoor use might be challenging, but the device's IP54 certification ensures resistance to dust and water, adding durability to its list of features.

Equipped with a dual-camera setup featuring a 13MP main lens and a B&W lens, the realme Note 50's camera performance is commendable for its price range.

Vibrant colors and decent detail characterize the main camera, while the 5MP selfie shooter offers true-to-life skin tones and effective beautification options. Video recording capabilities include 1080P @30FPS for the rear camera and 720 @30FPS for the selfie camera.

Under the hood, the realme Note 50 is powered by the Unisoc T612 chipset, accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. While the RAM might seem modest, it can be expanded. The device handles day-to-day tasks and social media apps and I did not encounter any issues.

A 5000mAh battery backs the realme Note 50, paired with 10W Type-C charging. The combination of the display and chipset proves efficient, providing around 10 hours of usage in standard conditions. Charging the 5000mAh battery from 0 to 100% takes approximately 2 hours with the provided 10W charger.

Priced at Php 3,599 for the 4GB+ 64GB storage, the realme Note 50 caters to the entry-level market without compromising essential features. Despite not being the top contender in its category, the device stands out with a 90Hz display, 2TB expandable storage, and decent camera performance. If you're looking for a budget-friendly smartphone that delivers good value, the realme Note 50 is definitely worth considering.
