Pororo the Little Penguin

Far far away, unknown and untouched by human civilization, lies a peaceful island covered in snow and ice. On this white island, deep inside a small secluded forest, is a tiny village inhabited by little animals. No-one knows how they came to live on the island but they naturally came to live together in the village situated in the little valley where the sunshine is warmest and the cold wind is least harsh. In the village lives Pororo, a very inquisitive impish little penguin, good-natured polar bear Poby, smug nosy red fox Eddy, shy and timid little beaver Loopy, friendly penguin girl Petty and happy humming bird Harry. All of our friends have distinct personalities and different interests which sometimes cause little (and sometimes not so little) happenings in their calm white world. But they are all good friends and know how to help each other in times of trouble.

Pororo the Little Penguin ( 뽀롱뽀롱 뽀로로 ) is aired by Disney Junior Asia every 5pm in the Philippines. The first time I watched this cartoon series, I already became fond of Pororo. I've been wanting to own a plush doll but it was not available in our country. Had I known about Pororo two years ago, I could have requested my husband to buy me the doll when he went to Korea.

Mid July, my husband was to travel to Russia. He told me that he'll have a stopover in Korea. I was really hoping he'll buy me anything Pororo. When he arrived home last night, he got me a souvenir from Russia. A set of Matryoshka Dolls. We had a small chat then went to sleep.

Pororo and Petty

A sweet surprise greeted me when I woke up this morning. These cuties were carefully placed by my husband beside me while I was sleeping. I never thought he'd remember how much I wanted these dolls. He's the sweetest husband.

He said he already saw these dolls while waiting for his connecting flight to Russia. But he bought it during stopover on his return flight.

Pororo is very popular among toddlers and preschoolers in South Korea. He is also well-loved by teenagers. I'm way past that age group but Pororo's cuteness has captured my heart.
