Coffee + Specs at SM City Marikina

Who would have thought that you could have your caffeine fix while deciding which frame will best suit you?

The Sunnies Specs Optical in SM City Marikina was the first stop in our 4-restaurant food crawl and I was really puzzled why. I learned later on that this brightly lit optical studio doubles as a coffee shop.

Cup Point is the in-store cafe of Sunnies Specs Optical. This concept was first introduced in Sunnies SM Southmall branch. Did you notice the Cup Point logo? Those who wear contact lens will understand. The cup is placed on top of the index finger just like how you apply the contact lens.

Cup Point uses their signature Out of Office Blend made from 100% Arabica coffee sourced from Brazil and Costa Rica. This blend is described as a robust yet relaxing roast of cacao with a hint of orange zest. It offers a depth of flavor and a comfortable balance of notes in a lush, chocolate drip.

I was told that the drinks menu was lifted from the Sunnies Cafe menu. The choices include hot and cold beverages and milkshakes.

The hot and cold beverages menu includes Americano, Cappuccino, Latte, Mocha, Matcha, and Honey. The Espresso is only served hot. The hot beverages are available in 12 oz while the cold beverages are available in 16 oz size.

PS. You can make the Matcha "dirty" by adding an espresso shot

There are three milkshake flavors in the menu:

Cookies is made of cookies and cream ice cream, nutella, crushed oreos, whipped cream and malted milk.

Cereal is made of cinnamon frosted cereal, vanilla ice cream, milk and cinnamon.

Matcha is made of green tea ice cream, high grade matcha powder, rice krispies, whipped cream and malted milk.

Cereal Milkshake is my instant favorite.

You don't have to purchase prescription glasses to have a cup of coffee or indulge in their milkshake. You can stay here to catch up with friends, tinker with your gadget, or read your favorite book (who knows you might really need a new pair of eyeglasses!)

Cup Point is also at Sunnies Specs Optical branch in SM Davao, SM Cagayan de Oro, SM Cebu, and SM Iloilo. Soon to open are branches in SM Dasmarinas and SM Megamall.
