In a remarkable collaboration, Rotary Club Mandaluyong Uptown, in conjunction with several other esteemed Rotary Clubs from District 3800, proudly hosted an inspiring event - Empowering Girls’ Day and Book Signing with Pia Wurtzbach. The initiative, held last December 01, 2023, at Greenhills Mall aimed to support the livelihood training of Mary Help of Christians – Calapan. This project specifically targets the empowerment of fisherfolk’s wives, Out-of-School Youth (OSY), and the Mangyan community.
The event poised to be a convergence of influential figures, including Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, DOT Region 12 Director King Arina, Atty. Nikki de Vega, and First Filipina Chess Grand Master Janelle Mae Frayna. These distinguished individuals has shed light on Rotary International’s key area of focus for the year: Empowering Girls.
The proceeds from the Book Signing event will benefit Mary Help Of Christians – Calapan, a Salesian Sister school dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities. The funds raised will be channeled into livelihood training, providing essential skills and opportunities for sustainable growth among the targeted beneficiaries.
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, a revered advocate for charitable causes, expresses her enthusiasm for being a part of this meaningful project.
