On January 20, 2024, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. officially inaugurated the first Tesla Center in the Philippines, marking a milestone in the country's journey toward sustainable transportation. This launch underscores Tesla's commitment to driving the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the region and highlights the Philippines' growing potential as a hub for green technology.
A Vision for the Future
In his speech at the launch, President Marcos praised Tesla for its confidence in the Philippines, attributing the company’s investment to the nation’s forward-thinking policies and innovative infrastructure.
“Tesla’s decision to invest in the Philippines is a recognition of our nation’s potential, underpinned by forward-thinking policies and a collective determination to innovate,” the President stated.
He emphasized the transformative role of EVs, envisioning a future where half of the vehicles on Philippine roads will be electric, thanks to sustained investments and supportive policies.
“As Tesla lays the groundwork and as we invest in infrastructure and implement policies supporting the industry, competition will grow. What may seem aspirational today – half of the vehicles in our streets as EVs – will become attainable tomorrow,” he added.
Empowering Filipino Talent
Beyond environmental sustainability, Tesla’s investment is also a boost for the local workforce. The company’s initiatives aim to equip Filipinos with the skills needed to thrive in a global shift toward green technologies.
“Tesla is building a generation of Filipinos equipped to lead in the global shift towards sustainable technologies,” President Marcos noted, expressing gratitude to Tesla for believing in the country’s potential.
A Comprehensive Tesla Experience
Located at Uptown Parade, the Tesla Center serves as the company's headquarters in the Philippines. It includes an experience center, a delivery hub, and an after-sales service support unit, offering a seamless and comprehensive Tesla experience for local customers.
Tesla’s Regional Director, Ms. Isabel Fan, emphasized the company’s dedication to making EV ownership more accessible:
“Tesla enables the use of electric vehicles by providing a comprehensive and seamless Tesla Experience directly in the Philippines. Tesla Charging Network and services are available 24/7 to serve Tesla owners. We will keep putting our best efforts into further investing in charging infrastructure and hiring locals to propel the Philippines toward sustainable energy.”
A Milestone for Sustainable Development
The launch of the Tesla Center comes just two months after Tesla inaugurated its first Supercharging Station in the country on November 8, 2024. With this new facility, Tesla has started delivering its Model 3, available from PHP 2,136,000 (inclusive of VAT). The Model Y Launch Series is also available for a limited time, starting at PHP 2,396,000.
Tesla’s entry into the Philippine market is expected to accelerate the adoption of EVs, reduce carbon emissions, and foster innovation in the automotive sector. This initiative aligns with the government’s push toward sustainability and inclusivity.
