Scrolling has become second nature for many Filipinos. From quick breaks between tasks to late-night unwinding, TikTok is often part of daily routines at home, in school, and at work. Recognizing how deeply digital spaces are woven into everyday life, TikTok has launched a new Time and Well-being Page, an in-app hub designed to help users pause, reset, and engage online more mindfully.
Launched in December 2025, the new feature reflects TikTok’s growing focus on digital wellness, especially for teens and families navigating screen time together. Instead of telling users to disconnect completely, the platform is offering practical tools that encourage balance, reflection, and intentional use.
For Filipino families, smartphones are more than entertainment tools. They are used for learning, work, connection, and creative expression. However, with constant access comes the challenge of knowing when to stop, take breaks, and refocus.
Psychologists and digital wellness advocates have long pointed out that healthier digital habits are built through awareness, not restriction. This is the thinking behind TikTok’s new Time and Well-being Page. It acknowledges that digital spaces are here to stay, and the goal is to help users use them in ways that support mental health and overall well-being.
What Is TikTok’s Time and Well-being Page
The Time and Well-being Page is a dedicated section within TikTok’s Account Settings. It brings together research-backed tools and creator-led guidance to help users better understand their digital habits and make small but meaningful changes.
According to Peachy Paderna, Public Policy Manager for the Philippines at TikTok, the page was designed to help users engage with the platform in ways that genuinely serve them. The tools reflect TikTok’s proactive approach to online safety and are developed in collaboration with experts to ensure a personalized and supportive experience.
New Tools Designed for Mindful Digital Use
At the heart of the Time and Well-being Page are five tools that focus on relaxation, self-awareness, and emotional regulation.
Affirmation Journal for Daily Intentions
One of the most personal features is the affirmation journal. Users can set daily intentions using more than 120 affirmation cards, which can be saved, downloaded, or shared. This encourages users to reflect on how they want to feel and what they want to focus on before diving into content.
Soothing Sound Generator
To help users unwind, TikTok added a sound generator that offers calming audio options such as rainfall, ocean waves, and white noise. These sounds can support relaxation, stress management, and better focus, especially during breaks or before sleep.
Guided Breathing Exercises
The breathing exercises feature walks users through simple mindfulness techniques. These short exercises are designed to help users pause, regulate emotions, and regain focus during busy or overwhelming moments.
Together, these tools aim to make short breaks more intentional, rather than mindless.
Learning Through Play with Well-being Missions
Beyond individual tools, TikTok introduced Well-being Missions, interactive challenges that help users, particularly teens, build healthier routines over time.
These missions are informed by academic research, insights from the Digital Wellness Lab, and feedback from TikTok’s Youth Council. Instead of lectures, they use gamified tasks to encourage reflection and self-awareness.
Sleep Hours Mission
The Sleep Hours Mission encourages users to step away from TikTok at night. By meditating during designated sleep hours, users gradually grow a virtual Well-being Tree over an eight-week period. The goal is to reinforce better nighttime habits without pressure.
Daily and Weekly Screen Time Missions
The Daily Screen Time Mission prompts users to set and stick to a screen time limit, while the Weekly Screen Time Mission encourages reflection on overall usage patterns. These missions help users better understand how much time they spend online and whether it aligns with their goals.
Well-being Ambassador Mission
The Well-being Ambassador Mission focuses on community. Users earn rewards by inviting friends to participate in missions, promoting shared accountability and mindful habits within peer groups.
By combining structure with encouragement, these missions make digital wellness feel achievable and even enjoyable.
Creator and Expert Voices at the Center
During the launch event in Manila, TikTok hosted a panel discussion featuring Bea Bautista, Head of Communications for the Philippines at TikTok, Peachy Paderna, and psychologist and digital wellness advocate Riyan Portuguez.
Portuguez emphasized that digital spaces are already part of young people’s lives. She highlighted that sustainable digital wellness comes from helping users manage their time intentionally, not from banning or restricting usage altogether. Tools like the Time and Well-being Page allow users to pause, reflect, and make choices that support mental health.
The page also features creator-led videos that offer practical advice on using well-being tools, setting screen time limits, and exploring Family Pairing features. These familiar voices help make digital wellness feel relatable and relevant, especially for younger users.
For parents, the new well-being features provide conversation starters around screen time and balance. For teens, they offer autonomy and guidance without feeling controlling. For everyday users, they serve as gentle reminders that rest, reflection, and intention matter online just as much as offline.
TikTok’s approach shows a shift toward supporting healthier digital relationships by design. Instead of pushing users to disconnect entirely, it encourages them to stay connected in ways that feel purposeful and positive.
A Step Toward Healthier Digital Communities
The Time and Well-being Page and Well-being Missions reflect a growing understanding that digital platforms play a role in shaping habits, not just content consumption. By embedding wellness tools directly into the app, TikTok is making mindful engagement easier and more accessible.
As digital life continues to evolve, tools like these can help Filipinos enjoy creativity, connection, and learning online while still making space for rest and balance.
