In celebration of the 121st Philippine Independence Day, SM Supermalls collaborates with the world's most iconic doll, Barbie to showcase Pinoy fashion. The Filipina Beauty with Barbie exhibit at The Block SM North EDSA features a collection of Barbie dolls wearing locally designed fashion couture.
"This exhibit aims to highlight the exceptional talent of local designers and at the same time promote our country as home of world-class artistry rich in culture, ethnicity, and tradition. This event is made possible by our partnership with global toy brand Barbie," said Jonjon San Agustin, SM Supermalls SVP for Marketing.
The Filipina Beauty with Barbie exhibit is a fashion experience like no other. You can witness Barbie dolls dressed in mixed contemporary high fashion and streetwear inspired by the country's rich culture, tradition, and heritage.
Be amazed with the collection of exclusive designs made by the country's sought-after Filipino fashion designers Rajo Laurel, Mark Tumang, John Herrera, Anthony Ramirez, and Martin Bautista among others.
You can find a handiwork of expert Filipino doll artists. The Barbie collection are "dolled up" using the skills and craftsmanship of remarkable doll artists Alvin Dave Ocampo, Christopher Flores, Eric Benito, Arvy Labrador, Marc Vandro, and Precious Juliet Mirafuentes.
There is also a Barbie of the Philippines Design Competition on contemporary couture. In collaboration with the promising talents of Fashion Institute of the Philippines, Institute of Creative Entrepreneurship Fashion Arts Design, and Fashion Designers Alliance, the exhibit have Barbie doll outfits made of indigenous and recyclable materials.
Here's something for the pageant fans! Be awed with the gowns that made history. On display are Barbie dolls wearing Catriona-inspired gowns and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
