Pride Month is always a highlight at Home Credit Philippines (HCPH). Known for its commitment to diversity and being an equal opportunity employer, this year's Pride Month festivities were vibrant and inclusive.
Pride Club Takes the Lead
The HCPH Pride Club, launched in 2023 as the voice of the LGBTQIA+ community within the company, led this year's celebrations with the theme #AtHomeKaDito.
In May, over 400 members gathered for a general assembly, where new officers were introduced, milestones were celebrated, and plans for the year were shared. The event featured a SOGIE Talk by the well-known queer artist and advocate, Floyd Scott Tiogangco.
The Pride Club also launched its first-ever search for a pride ambassador and hosted a Pride Make-up Challenge on TikTok to encourage participation and promote visibility for the company's diversity, equality, and inclusion (DE&I) efforts.
Pride Townhall Highlights
The first Pride Townhall included a Pride Talk series with speakers like Chris Eugenio from the Philippine Financial Inter-industry Pride, Ronn Astillas from the Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and Ico Johnson from Project Red Ribbon. The event also featured the grand finals of the Pride Ambassador search, culminating in a dazzling drag performance by Corazon Filipinas (RuPaul's Drag Race Philippines Season 1) and her drag daughters, Kitty and Curvidilol.
Marching with Pride
HCPH proudly joined the #LoveLaban Pride Festival at the Quezon City Memorial Circle, with 100 employees marching alongside over 200,000 participants advocating for recognition and equal rights.
Hannie, an IT Business Analyst at HCPH, shared their thoughts: “Pride is a protest against heteronormative views and a celebration of acceptance. It’s about embracing who you are.” Jhustin, a payment operator, added, “Pride means freedom and equality. I’m grateful to work at a company that’s open-minded and supportive of the LGBTQIA+ community.”
Creating a Safe and Inclusive Space
HCPH’s success in DE&I initiatives is rooted in its belief that "No Small Roles, Everyone is Important." Chief People Officer, Alpha Omega Aquino, emphasized, “Pride is about respect, acceptance, equality, and freedom. DE&I is part of our DNA, and we strive to make our employees feel valued and empowered.”
HCPH’s support for its LGBTQIA+ employees includes benefits like including same-sex partners in medical plans, wellness leaves, and gender-neutral restrooms. The company partners with organizations such as the Philippine Financial Inter-Industry Pride and the Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce to ensure best practices in DE&I.
In 2023, HCPH completed the Gender Equality Assessment, Results, and Strategies assessment, identifying gaps and opportunities to further enhance their workplace gender equality strategy. Aquino concluded, “We are committed to promoting wellness and inclusion through our DE&I campaigns and partnerships. While we’ve made significant progress, we recognize there’s still more to do.”
