Sining Filipina 2025: First All-Female Art Competition Now On Its 2nd Year

The groundbreaking Sining Filipina art competition is back for its second run, aiming to spotlight and empower women artists across the Philippines. After an impressive debut that garnered over 700 entries, the competition returns with a renewed commitment to nurturing talent and fostering creative expression.

The 2025 edition of Sining Filipina embraces the inspiring theme, “Her Earth, Her Future,” inviting artists to create powerful visual narratives that highlight women as trailblazers in sustainability. This theme encourages participants to showcase their unique interpretations of how women are shaping a greener, more sustainable future through their leadership and actions.

A Platform for Filipina Talent

Stella  Cabalatungan, Chairperson of the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs committee for Sining Filipina sees this art competition as an opportunity for women to showcase their talent and for the art community to discover new artists from different places in the country and not just in NCR.

Joanne Zapanta-Andrada, President of the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs, highlighted the transformative power of art in amplifying women's voices. She emphasized that art serves as a profound expression of the human experience, allowing women to convey their stories and perspectivesunderscoring the competition's role in fostering self-expression and empowerment.

A Celebration of Creativity

This year, the competition opens its doors to mixed media submissions, encouraging more diversity and innovation. Resident Filipinas of all ages are invited to submit their 2x3 feet or 3x3 feet artworks by February 13, 2025.

The competition has also eliminated categories, allowing all artists to compete on an even playing field.  Initial judging will be conducted virtually, followed by a physical evaluation to narrow the pool down to 50 finalists.

Showcasing Filipina Talent

Finalists’ artworks will be showcased at the Sining Filipina exhibit at SM Aura in Taguig City by the end of March, aligning with Women’s Month celebrations. The exhibit will also travel to other key locations, thanks to support from  Chinabank and SM Supermalls. The competition is also sponsored by Airspeed.

“The artworks will also be exhibited in other SM Supermalls branches for Women’s Month,” shared Grace Magno, SM Supermalls Vice President for Corporate Marketing.

Chinabank Museum located at the 4th level of the Binondo Business Center has also offered to house the finalists' artworks. 

Exciting Prizes Await

The top 10 winners will share a cash prize pool of ₱500,000, making this not just an opportunity for recognition but also a tangible reward for their artistic excellence. The first prize will be awarded a trophy and P250,000. The second prize and third prize will take home P150,000 and P100,000, respectively.
