I'm such a lucky gal to have a mother who hails from Lucban. I grew up eating pancit habhab, hardinera and pilipit. Me and my sisters spent all our summer vacations in Lucban. We ate pancit habhab almost everyday. I remember it only cost P5 per serving back then.
Now that I've grown up, visit to Lucban became infrequent. Good thing, there are Buddy's Restaurant all over the metro. During my recent staycation at Linden Suites, me and hubby had our dinner at Buddy's Restaurant in Pearl Drive, Ortigas. The restaurant is like a replica of the original branch in Lucban. I always love the hanging kiping and the ambience of Buddy's. It makes me feel like I'm back at the province.
Pancit Habhab PhP195 |
A must order is the Pancit Habhab (or Pancit Lucban). If you want to experience how Lucbanins eat this, then you don't need any fork! Quite a challenge, right?! An order of Pancit Habhab costs PhP195. This is good for 2-3 persons. Buddy's Restaurant serves the authentic taste of Pancit Habhab that you'll find when you go to Quezon.
Hardinera PhP120 |
One of my favorite dishes in Lucban is the Hardinera. My grandmother and aunties cook this for us. It is usually served during special occasions such as fiesta, birthday, wedding and Pahiyas. I didn't quite like Buddy's Hardinera. It seems like something's missing with the taste. But it's good enough to satisfy my craving. I was taught how to make it but it's too tedious.
Sizzling Porkchop Steak PhP175 |
A new discovery for us is the Sizzling Porkchop Steak. This is not a Lucban exclusive but it was so delish I'll come back to Buddy's for this! (And Pancit Habhab of course!) The porkchops were cooked well done but the meat were tender. I love anything with gravy. I wish they'll give extra gravy :)
