Mega Prime Makes Cooking One Step Easier


Working from home gives me more time to spend in the kitchen and prepare healthy, satisfying meals for the family. Always in my pantry are canned vegetable products that I use whenever the ingredients call for it. Mushrooms make good side dish for steak while I enjoy snacking on buttered corn kernels.

I got home yesterday and these Mega Prime Quality products were waiting for me. What's even more exciting is the recipes for me to try in my kitchen. I'll be sharing the recipes with you, dear readers, and let's cook these for our family. 

Bacon and Mega Prime Corn Chowder

2 cans 425g Mega Prime Whole Kernel Corn
2 cups potatoes, diced
1 tbsp. butter
1/4 cup onion, diced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 cups milk
1 tbsp flour dissolved in 1 tbsp water
green onions, chopped for garnish
crispy bacon bits, topping

In a large pot with boiling water, combine all ingredients except milk, flour mixture, green onions and bacon. Cook until potatoes are tender. Add milk and flour mixture. Stir well. Bring to a slow boil and cook for another 10 minutes. Stir in green onions and top with bacon bits.

Easy Cheesy Mega Prime Mushroom on Toast

4 slices wheat loaf bread
1 tbsp olive oil
4 slices bacon
1 tbsp butter
2 garlic cloves, crushed
4 tbsp cream
1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
1 can 425g Mega Prime Pieces and Stems Mushrooms
1 tbsp parsley

Toast the bread and cut each slice in half. Set aside. In a pan, add oil. Fry the bacon until crisp. Break into bits and pat excess oil. Add butter on the same pan and cook the mushrooms for 2 minutes. Add the garlic, cream and 1/2 cup of cheese. Cook for 3-5 minutes. Stir in the parsley. To assemble, spread the mixture and top with cheese.

Mega Prime Green Peas Omelette

2 cans 155g Mega Prime Green Peas
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp lemon zest, grated
salt and pepper to taste
6 eggs
3 tbsp butter
3 tbsp parmesan cheese
2 tbsp spring onions, thinly sliced

Drain and transfer Mega Prime Green Peas in a bowl. Stir in oil, lemon zest, salt and pepper, then set aside. In another bowl, whisk eggs. Season with salt and pepper. Melt butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add eggs and cook without stirring. Using a spatula, gently stir until eggs are set. Pat into an even layer. Add Mega Prime Green Peas, half of the cheese and spring onions over the eggs. Remove from heat and gently roll omelette over the filling. Serve on a plate and top with remaining cheese.
