Dragons, Drama, and Deception: Meet the Stars of House of the Dragon

Westeros is on fire! Literally. A Targaryen civil war is brewing, and it's hotter than a dragon's breath. The Greens and the Blacks are battling it out for the Iron Throne, and it's a total rollercoaster!

Based on George R.R. Martin's epic book "Fire & Blood," House of the Dragon is giving us all the drama, betrayal, and jaw-dropping moments we crave. Let's dive into the characters making this show a must-watch!

Daemon Targaryen: The Chaotic Charmer

Matt Smith is killing it as Daemon! One minute he's a rebellious prince, the next he's a loving brother. This guy is all over the place, and we can't get enough! He's like a dragon: powerful, unpredictable, and totally captivating.

Daemon had an incredible character arc in Season 1. Starting as a rogue prince whom everyone thinks wants the throne of his brother Viserys I (Paddy Considine), we saw the charismatic warrior turn into a loving brother and husband. In S1 episode 8, he helps his ailing brother sit on the Iron Throne and gently puts the crown on his head. He also beheads Vaemond Velaryon when he insults Rhaenyra. In S2, Daemon does not want to wait around for Rhaenyra to end her grieving and wants to fight for their birthright.

Rhaenyra Targaryen: The Reluctant Queen

Rhaenyra Targaryen

Rhaenyra is dealing with more heartbreak than a box of tissues can handle. She's trying to hold it all together, but with dragons and backstabbing everywhere, it's tough! We admire Emma D'Arcy's portrayal of the reluctant queen as she displays her strength and her determination to find a peaceful solution.

When will heartache end for Rhaenyra? Possibly never. In S2 episode 1 Rhaenyra grieves over Lucerys’ death. While she doesn’t want a war and wants revenge, she still shows restraint and wants to find a solution without fighting. We love Rhaenyra because even through her anger, she displays restraint.

Aemond Targaryen: The Eye of the Storm

Aemond Targaryen

Aemond lost an eye, but gained a dragon. Talk about a trade-off! He’s got a chip on his shoulder the size of Westeros, and we can't look away. Love him or hate him, Ewan Mitchell as Aemond is definitely making waves.

Aemond displayed his hatred for Rhaenyra’s children early on in the first season. He lost an eye as a child while fighting with his nephew Lucerys Velaryon. He told his mother that he may have lost an eye but he gained Vhagar, one of the most powerful dragons. We see a little more of this character in S2 episode 2. With how Aemond’s history in season one, we can’t help but to feel for his character.

Ser Criston Cole: The Fallen Knight

Criston Cole

From Rhaenyra's lover to Queen Alicent's puppet, Ser Criston's life is a total mess. But hey, we're here for the drama!
Fabien Frankel's journey from charming knight to power-hungry lackey is a wild ride.

As a member of the Kingsguard, Ser Criston is often seen breaking his oathand allegiance – first with Rhaenyra in season one and currently with Queen Alicent. By the end of episode 2 of the new season, he has replaced Aegon’s grandfather Otto Hightower as the King’s Hand. Much like Rhaenyra, we fell for his charm in the beginning and are eager to see what comes his way in this season.

Alicent Hightower: The Queen with a Plan

Alicent Hightower

Alicent is playing the game of thrones like a pro. She's ruthless, cunning, and determined to keep her son on the Iron Throne. We might not agree with her methods, but we can't deny she's a force to be reckoned with.

Olivia Cook is perfect for the role of Alicent who is a highly complicated character and would do anything to keep her son on the Iron Throne. While we may not see eye to eye with her, we do respect her character’s development, determination, and how she becomes one of the key players in House of the Dragon.

Rhaenys Velaryon: The Dragon Queen Who Never Was

Rhaenys Velaryon

Rhaenys is a badass. She's powerful, mysterious, and always one step ahead. We wish we could be half as cool as her. Unfortunately, her story takes a tragic turn in Season 2. We never want to say goodbye to Eve Best but...

The Queen who never was, Rhaenys Targaryen was married to Corlys Velaryon, Master of Driftmark and the head of House Velaryon. You can never read Rhaenys or predict what she’s going to do, nor will you ever know whose side she’s on until she wants you to know. She flexed her power at the end ofthe first season when she attacked King’s Landing riding on her dragon, Meleys, and more recently in Season 2 when she stands up to Daemon, telling him to let Rhaenyra grieve. While her strength was truly inspiring, we see Rhaenys fall to her death in House of the Dragon S2.

Cregan Stark: The Future is Here

We love Starks, period. Cregan played by Tom Taylor is young, loyal, and ready to fight for what's right. He's a breath of fresh air in this crazy world.

Lord Cregan Stark is on the list simply because he is a Stark. We love Starks – no matter how long or short their appearance is. Creganpledges his allegiance to the Blacks as he tells Jacaerysthat “the Starks do not forget their oath, my prince…” We can’t wait to see more of Cregan!

House of the Dragon is a non-stop thrill ride, and we're hooked! Don't miss a single episode!
