Salu Restaurant Celebrates 1st Year, Unveils #SarapMabuhay Campaign

6/11/17

Celebrity couple Romnick Sarmenta and Harlene Bautista have countless of reasons why they can say #SarapMabuhay sa Pinas. Salu Restaurant, which serves authentic all-Filipino dishes, turned one this June and so much has happened in its first twelve months of operation.

Madrid Fusion

  Mindanao's Beef Kulma

Salu Restaurant was chosen to represent the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) at Madrid Fusion, the biggest food convention in the world held last April in Manila.  They showcased their best southern dishes such as Beef Kulma, Syagul Pagi, Utak Utak, and Pyanggang. What makes these dishes standout was a special ingredient pampa that is famous in Mindanao. Chefs, culinary experts, and delegates of the congress were amazed with the distinct flavors and taste of Mindanao cuisine.

Hashtag Philippines

Salu Restaurant has tied up last August with Hashtag Philippines where around 300 kids where fed every event with Salu packed lunch lovingly prepared by volunteers.

Anniversary Promo

Here's a treat to Salu's loyal customers during their anniversary month. It's Buy 1 Take 1 promo of their famous Binagoongang Lechon Kare-Kare (BLK) for the whole month of June. And on June 11, 2017 only, avail of the  Piso per slice  of Brazo de Kalabasa for a minimum purchase of P500 for the first 100 diners.

New on the Menu

What's a Filipino feast without lechon? Cochinillo, a roasted suckling pig, is now available at Salu Restaurant. It is served with 6 dipping sauces to choose from. 2 days advance order is required.

A dish concocted with love, Sinampalukang Hito is one of Salu's chefs tribute to his dad. If you love sour dishes, you must order this.

A dish that will make you order for extra rice is the Hipon sa Aligue. Sauce pa lang, siguradong ulam na.

A bread that every Filipino loves is the pan de sal. But you'll love it even more with Pan de Salu. It's pan de sal with filling. You can choose from laing, caldereta, bicol express, beef kulma, and bistek.

Sweet Endings

Salu has interesting desserts like the Halo-halo wherein you can choose between tsokolate batirol or Yema to sweeten your Halo-halo. I was able to sample the Taho Cheesecake and the Durian Cake during the Thanksgiving Lunch last June 9, 2017.

Are you like me who always ask manong magtataho to put extra arnibal and sago? You'll get lots of those with Salu's Taho Cheesecake.

I never liked the durian fruit but this Durian Cake has definitely captured my taste buds. Would you believe I ate those five mini slices?

Something Exciting

Moms are the "Reyna ng Kusina" in Filipino households. Luto Ni Nanay gives moms a chance to cook with the talented chefs of Salu as they learn to prepare one of a kind dishes they can choose from a set of menu.

We Filipinos love reunions, celebrations and gatherings. We value quality time spent with the people we love and we usually enjoy this over a table full of food. Have a group feast at Salu with their Pilipinas Platter. The best dishes of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao are creatively served on a carved wooden plates representing the three island groups of the Philippines. It costs PhP 7,107 and is good for 15-20 people.

Thank you Mr. Romnick Sarmenta and Ms. Harlene Bautista for having me on your restaurant's anniversary celebration. The santol dish brought back memories of my childhood summer vacations in Lucban, Quezon and my lola cooking this dish. It tasted just the way I remember it. I'm definitely coming back for the Hardinera (another Lucban dish favorite of mine) and the KLB.

Wishing you more years of serving the best of Filipino dishes.
