Seniors relived their younger years of partying without worrying about curfew at the Seniors Prom hosted by SM Cares last October 2. Seniors danced the night away with the Rockin' 60s band providing live music at the Skydome of SM City North EDSA.
Titus Santiago, Dero Pedero, Weng de Leon Erana, Cathy Castaneda together with the band played nonstop music from the 60s and the dear senior citizens proved no one is too old to dance.
The Seniors Prom was one of the many activities lined up by SM Cares Program for Seniors Citizens in celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week at SM Supermalls. The weeklong activities was led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Office of the Senior Citizens Affair (OSCA) in partnership with SM Cares.
This year's theme of the annual Elderly Filipino Week is "Healthy and Productive Ageing Starts with Me". The celebration kicked off last October 1 with the "Walk for Life" which promotes good health and well-being of the elderly. There was a parade of seniors at the MOA complex at 6am and the day was capped with entertainment for the elderly.
To make the celebration more meaningful, "Talakayan", a forum was held to make the elderly informed about the legislations concerning them. Discussed during the forum were the various benefits provided by the government for the seniors. Talakayan was led by the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs.
