Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) bagged two awards at the recent 55th Anvil Awards, taking home a gold Anvil for its capability-building program called Blockchain Xcellerator and a silver Anvil for its EDTalks internal video podcast.

UnionBank’s Blockchain Xcellerator program started as a drive to enable talents to learn blockchain technology and eventually get employment. It has since evolved to become a mentorship program for educators and most recently, a learning pathway for students from partner schools.

“UnionBank fulfills a higher purpose of teching up communities through the Xcellerator Program. As UnionBank co-creates innovations with educational institutions like STI, we enable educators and the community of learners to apply knowledge on new technologies that pave the way for development of solutions that benefit the institution and its people,” said Michelle Rubio, executive vice president and chief human resource officer of UnionBank.

Meanwhile, EDTalks - an internal video podcast hosted by UnionBank president and CEO Edwin Bautista, was recognized for providing a forum for UnionBankers and its leaders to discuss the company culture and the bank’s journey towards digital transformation.

This program, which was launched as an internal communication tool for the implementation of the agile methodology across the bank, became a regular and much-awaited talk show for the organization.

The Anvil Awards is an annual awarding ceremony organized by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines that honors the best public relations tools and programs in the country.
