AXA invites customers to ‘plant’ seedlings via Emma app

AXA Philippines, one of the country’s leading insurance companies, introduces a new promo, “Adopt a Mangrove Seedling,” to allow customers to give back and help raise mangroves with their registration on Emma by AXA. This is for the benefit of the non-profit organization, Communities Organized for Resource Allocation (CORA)’s program, CORA WoMANGROVE Warriors, an environment and livelihood program for women communities in Leyte.

AXA aims to plant and raise 1,000 mangroves for the month of August. The “Adopt a Mangrove Seedling” initiative is led by the company’s international volunteer arm, AXA Hearts in Action, and guided by AXA for Progress Index, which serves as a guide for the company in developing programs that make a positive impact in the environment and climate change, health and disease prevention, and inequalities and social inclusion. AXA Hearts in Action is also aligned with CORA, which focuses on creating sustainable programs to also help solve global issues, such as climate change and inequality, as well as hunger and poverty, in the community level.

“With just a few taps on their smartphone, AXA Philippines customers can contribute to critical sustainability initiatives by planting mangroves,” said Rahul Hora, AXA Philippines president and CEO. “Mangroves store four times more carbon than rainforests and have been proven to be an effective natural defense against climate change. We are happy to contribute to the efforts of CORA which shares our commitment to help preserve the environment for future generations.”

Customers who want to help just need to download and register on the Emma by AXA PH app for free via the App or Google Play Store or register online on Emma by AXA via the AXA website from August 1 to 31. The first 1,000 customers to do so will have a mangrove seedling donated on their behalf by AXA Hearts in Action. The mangrove will be under the customer’s name. Newly registered customers will also receive an e-certification of their donated mangrove and an Environment Warrior badge will be added to their profile on the app after the promo period.

Aside from being able to be a part of this noteworthy environmental initiative, customers can also have free access to AXA Rescue Line for 24/7 emergency assistance, including police, fire, ambulance, and roadside assistance. On the app, customers can also easily monitor their policies or avail of insurance online.

Aside from this promo, AXA has several ongoing sustainability projects to help lower carbon footprint, increase green investments, achieve carbon neutrality, and provide environment-friendly products and services. AXA officially launched paperless communications last year. All communications to customers are now sent via email and notifications via Emma by AXA app and web, saving tons of paper every year. The company also executed the Go Green office program for the proper segregation of waste for recycling, as well as the use of toilet paper which is produced by recycling the office’s paper waste.
