The iconic Filipino band’s docu-film continues its winning streak with international screenings and global recognition.
The Eraserheads aren’t just rock legends on stage—they’re now making waves in the film world too. Their critically acclaimed documentary, ERASERHEADS: COMBO ON THE RUN, is conquering the global festival circuit with upcoming screenings at two prestigious events: the 44th Annual Hawai’i International Film Festival (HIFF) in the United States and the International Sound and Film Festival (ISFMF) in Croatia.
A Spotlight on Filipino Storytelling
Directed and produced by Maria Diane Ventura, the docu-film is part of HIFF’s Spotlight on the Philippines showcase, which celebrates bold and groundbreaking Filipino cinema. The screening will take place on October 30, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Consolidated Theatres Kapolei 3 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The special lineup also features other powerhouse films: Lav Diaz’s “Magellan,” the Philippines’ official entry to the 98th Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film, and Jerrold Tarog’s “Quezon,” a historical drama with Jericho Rosales in the lead role.
Global Recognition and Award Nominations
Adding to its achievements, ERASERHEADS: COMBO ON THE RUN has been nominated for Best International Film Documentary at ISFMF, happening on October 6, 2025, in Samobor, Croatia. This festival is known as one of the three biggest and most respected sound and film music events in the world.
For Ventura, the recognition is both humbling and energizing. “Sharing a story and music that are distinctly ours, yet resonate with a wider audience, is inspiring. Representing the Philippines on this stage is a privilege,” she shared in a press statement.
A Journey Beyond the Philippines
The international momentum doesn’t stop there. Ventura confirmed that theatrical releases are already lined up for the Middle East, followed by Australia, the United States, Canada, and the UK.
“We’re thrilled to be taking the film beyond the Philippines,” Ventura said. “It’s exciting to see this story travel and connect with audiences around the world.”
For fans of the Eraserheads, this is more than just nostalgia—it’s a celebration of Filipino artistry on a global scale.
The Eraserheads have long been the soundtrack of Filipino youth, and seeing their story honored on the world stage is a proud moment for OPM and Philippine cinema. Whether you grew up blasting “Pare Ko” or discovered the band later on, this film is proof that Pinoy stories can resonate with audiences everywhere.
Stay tuned for updates on its international release schedule. This is one movie Filipino fans around the world won’t want to miss.
