Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series is set to make a return to the Philippines to once again bring the world’s best cliff divers to the breathtaking shores of El Nido, Palawan, happening on April 11 to 13. This marks the Philippines’ second time to host the opening stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, the first one being held in 2019.

Set against the towering limestone cliffs and crystal-clear waters of Palawan, the 2025 season opener of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series promises high-flying action with fearless performances from top global diving athletes with the unparalleled natural beauty of El Nido as the backdrop.

Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series Pushes Limits

The competition is bringing together 24 of the world’s elite divers who are challenged to push the boundaries of human potential. The 12 divers joining the men’s category include Great Britain’s Aidan Heslop, Italy’s Andrea Barnaba, Spain’s Carlos Gimeno, Romania’s Constantin Popovici, USA’s James Lichtenstein, Ukraine’s Oleksiy Prygorov, as well as Mexico’s Sergio Guzman and Yolotl Martinez. On the other hand, the 12 divers for the women’s category include Italy’s Elisa Cosetti, Netherlands’ Ginni van Katwijk, USA’s Kaylea Arnett and Meili Carpenter, Canada’s Molly Carlson and Simone Leathead, Ukraine’s Nelli Chukanivska, and Australia’s Rhiannan Iffland.

Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series sets itself apart from the Olympic dive by challenging participants to dive from a height of 27 meters, for male divers, and 21 meters, for female divers. Meanwhile, Olympic divers jump from a stationary platform at a height of about 10 meters above water. They will hit speeds of about 85km/h before slicing into the waters below. These breathtaking descents demand exceptional precision, courage, and mental fortitude as athletes transform vertical drops into awe-inspiring displays of human capability.

El Nido’s dramatic cliffs provide the perfect stage for the extreme sporting event, while also presenting a formidable challenge. The combination of natural rock formations, shifting weather conditions, and open water creates an unpredictable environment that tests the skill and adaptability of each diver.

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series will continue to traverse global locations, including cityscapes, famous landmarks, and remote natural locations, to further elevate the difficulty and spectacle of the competition. The Philippines marks the first stop for the world series, followed by Polignano A Mare in Italy on June 28 to 29; Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina on September 5 to 6; and Boston in the USA on September 19 to 20.

At the end of the season, the champions for the men’s and women’s categories will be awarded the highly coveted King Kahekili trophy.

Iconic Filipino band Hemp Republic marks a monumental milestone as they celebrate their 25th anniversary in the music industry.

The highly anticipated event will also serve as an official launch of their upcoming 6-track release, The Mighty People, which promises to be a celebration of resilience, unity, and the evolving sound of Pinoy reggae. It will take place on March 22, 2025, at ‘70s Bistro in Quezon City, from 7 pm onwards.

“The album carries the spirit of our journey over the past 25 years—staying true to our roots while embracing new influences,” explains Bunny Liwanag, the lead vocalist of the band. “The six tracks in the album reflect themes of love, struggle, truth, and liberation, with our signature blend of reggae, rock, dub, and island vibes.”

Liwanag, a key figure in the local alternative and reggae scenes, is thrilled to host a show that unites reggae fans across generations—those who have supported the band since 2005’s Welcome to Hemp Republic album and those who are discovering their music for the first time.

As online fraud reaches unprecedented levels, Filipinos are reminded to stay vigilant and strengthen their digital security—a key message underscored by Safer Internet Day, an annual global movement advocating for a safer and more responsible online experience.

According to the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), cybercrime complaints more than tripled in 2024, with 10,004 cases filed—a staggering rise from 3,317 in 2023.1 These scams led to PHP198 million in total financial losses, highlighting the growing sophistication of fraud, particularly consumer fraud and online financial fraud, which together account for 67% of all reported cases. Fraudsters continue to exploit deceptive tactics such as fake online sales, impersonation scams, investment fraud, and phishing to steal sensitive information like passwords and one-time PINs (OTPs).

Recognizing the growing vulnerabilities of OTPs, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is pushing for stricter security regulations to strengthen the country’s financial cybersecurity framework. As part of this effort, the BSP has proposed regulatory changes aimed at enforcing Republic Act No. 12010, or the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (Afasa), which was signed into law last year to combat financial cybercrimes. This includes requiring banks to continuously enhance their security infrastructure, implement stronger authentication measures, and adopt more advanced fraud detection systems to stay ahead of cybercriminals.

5. Monitor account activity regularly – Frequently check your bank statements and transaction history for any unauthorized activity. Report suspicious transactions immediately.

6. Report scams promptly – If you fall victim to fraud, contact your bank and report the incident to the government’s 1326 cybercrime hotline, available 24/7 to assist victims.

As cybercriminals continue to innovate, fortifying your digital security is no longer just an option—it’s a necessity. This Safer Internet Day serves as a strong reminder that while financial institutions enhance their digital defenses, users must also remain proactive and vigilant. Fraudsters may adapt, but with the right security measures and a well-informed digital banking community, Filipinos can continue transacting online with confidence.

Happening on March 7, 2025, at 8 PM, and March 8 & 9, 2025, at 5 PM, this special event will feature the world premiere of Pearls, a mesmerizing new piece choreographed by Ballet Manila’s CEO and Artistic Director Lisa Macuja Elizalde, alongside acclaimed choreographers Martin Lawrance and Gerardo Francisco Jr.

Announced at the 30th-anniversary launch at Shangri-La Mall, the gala highlights Ballet Manila’s mission of "bringing ballet to the people and people to ballet." “Paquita” – Honoring Ballet Manila’s Legacy

The Pearl Gala opens with Paquita, a ballet first performed by Ballet Manila during its inaugural concert 30 years ago. This classical masterpiece underscores the strength of a ballet company’s corps de ballet, proving that true excellence extends beyond soloists and principal dancers. Expect stunning variations and dazzling codas that put the spotlight on the company’s unwavering dedication to artistry and technique.

“Bloom” – A Modern Take on Ballet

Following Paquita is Bloom, originally choreographed by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa in 2014 and performed by prestigious companies such as Cincinnati Ballet and Los Angeles Ballet. For its 30th year, Ballet Manila presents Bloom with a unique twist—a male-dominated corps de ballet, showcasing the diversity and strength of the company.

“Pearls” – A Ballet of Growth and Transformation

The gala culminates with Pearls, a breathtaking production symbolizing the evolution of a dancer, much like a pearl that forms through time and layers. Divided into six parts, each section represents a different kind of pearl, with dancers embodying the journey of perseverance and refinement that transforms them into radiant artists. The finale will blend classical and contemporary ballet, a fitting tribute to Ballet Manila’s rich artistic heritage.

Beyond The Pearl Gala, Ballet Manila’s performance season continues with two legendary full-length ballets:

“Swan Lake” – A Timeless Classic with International Stars

Mark your calendars for May 30, 2025, at 8 PM, and May 31 & June 1, 2025, at 5 PM, as Ballet Manila brings to life one of ballet’s most iconic productions, Swan Lake. A special matinee on May 31 at 1 PM will feature Ballet Manila principal dancer Abigail Oliveiro and San Francisco Ballet company artist Nathaniel Remez in the lead roles.

Adding to the grandeur, guest artists from San Francisco Ballet—soloist Katherine Barkman (a former Ballet Manila principal dancer) and principal dancer Esteban Hernandez—will take the stage. Barkman will perform the challenging dual roles of Odette (White Swan) and Odile (Black Swan), alongside Hernandez as Prince Siegfried. The duo will grace all three shows, delivering a world-class performance that ballet aficionados won’t want to miss.

“Don Quixote” – A Grand Finale with Ballet Royalty

Closing the season on a high note is Don Quixote, featuring the triumphant return of Mariinsky Prima Ballerina Renata Shakirova. As one of Ballet Manila’s signature productions, this high-energy ballet is a perfect way to conclude the Pearl Year. Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, known for her legendary portrayal of Kitri, expresses excitement over Shakirova’s performance, where she will dazzle audiences with light, gigantic leaps, rapid pirouettes, and the famous 32 fouettés.

Iconic OPM Band to Hold a Mystery Pop-Up Performance for Lucky Cinema-Goers

The legendary OPM band Eraserheads is set to surprise lucky audiences with a live pop-up performance during the opening weekend of Eraserheads: Combo On The Run. From March 21-23, 2025, one mystery cinema will witness the band take the stage for an exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime event.

Filmmaker and producer Maria Diane Ventura teases that the location and time of the surprise performance will be kept under wraps until the moment it happens.

“It’s a lottery, after all,” Ventura explains. “It could take place at any theater, at any moment. But what we can promise is that those who experience it will witness the Eraserheads in an intimate, unforgettable setting.”

The goal of this special event? To reignite the cinematic magic of music and storytelling at a time when streaming dominates the entertainment industry.

“Some films are meant to be experienced in the cinema,” Ventura adds. “With its Dolby Atmos sound, fans will hear the Eraserheads' music in a way they never have before. And imagine—just after watching the film, the band comes out to perform live. It’s a full-circle experience that brings music and cinema together.”

The live version serves as the band’s first official release in 2025

Ben&Ben celebrates the season of love with the release of their heartwarming new single, “Tomorrow With You,” now available via Sony Music Entertainment.

The song explores the resilience of love in the face of life's uncertainties, emphasizing the importance of taking each day as it comes, particularly during difficult times.

Inspired by the people who shaped and impacted their journey as individuals and as a band, Ben&Ben shares that the song encapsulates their growth, both personally and creatively, with family, friends, and loved ones by their side.

“Given that we have travelled quite far already in these dimensions, Tomorrow With You brings in the wisdom and maturity gained in these areas of our lives and channels it into a love song that embodies all of it,” explains the Pagtingin act.

The release of the track is accompanied by an audio bundle, which includes a live and a studio version. The band expressed their excitement over Spotify’s audio bundle feature, which allows listeners to enjoy both versions back-to-back, with the option to loop them for an immersive experience. “We poured different types of creative energy into both—one being a live performance and the other being a studio recording.”

The live version of “Tomorrow With You” is particularly significant, as the band believes it gives listeners a chance to experience a Ben&Ben concert on an intimate level. The band describes the feeling as a “unique audiovisual storytelling adventure that hopefully becomes a part of their own life stories as well.”

“The live performance was meticulously recorded during a concert that meant a lot to us and to our Liwanag [fans],” they add. “The event was a milestone after a year marred with many struggles, hardships, failures, and lessons. Quite literally, it was the embodiment of the lyrics in the song: Embrace hard times with you, ‘til they’re gone.”

Produced by Indonesian musician Petra Sihombing, “Tomorrow With You” blends ‘70s singer-songwriter pop, jazz, and classic soul influences with a waltz-like rhythm, creating a soothing soundscape for moments spent with your special someone. The song’s rich textures are brought to life by Sihombing’s production, which the band says beautifully captured the song’s emotional depth and dynamics.

“Our good friend from Indonesia, Petra Sihombing, produced the track,” shares the nine-member band. “He was trying to achieve translating the earnestness of emotion and the steady buildup of the song in terms of dynamics and the frequencies highlighted, which we feel he did quite well. It’s always a pleasure working with Petra. Additionally, Ziv, our friend who produced the other tracks in the album, laid down the saxophone part, which added a whole new nuance to the song.”

“Tomorrow With You” is the latest single off Ben&Ben’s recently released third full-length album, The Traveller Across Dimensions. The song is now available on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.
