Smart and TNT users can now enjoy app-free video calls powered by ViLTE technology
Staying connected just got simpler and more personal. Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), the wireless arm of PLDT, has officially launched Video Calls powered by Video over LTE (ViLTE) — a new feature that allows Smart and TNT subscribers to make high-quality video calls straight from their phone’s dialer, no third-party apps required.
With ViLTE, subscribers can enjoy clear, real-time conversations that feel more natural and intimate — as easy as making a regular voice call.
Unlimited video calls, no extra app required
What makes ViLTE even better? It’s charged under your existing voice subscription, not your data. So if you’re subscribed to Smart’s Unli 5G+ or PowerAll, or TNT’s SurfSaya promos, you can enjoy virtually unlimited video calls with your friends and family.
Just like regular calls, only the caller needs an active subscription — the receiver can answer without any additional offer.
ViLTE calls also provide stable connections, even in busy areas, while being more battery-efficient than typical app-based video calls. Users can multitask easily — browsing, streaming, or messaging — while still on the call.
A smarter, clearer, and more immersive way to connect
Smart first introduced Voice over LTE (VoLTE) in 2020, which brought clearer, uninterrupted voice calls over 4G LTE. Now, ViLTE takes it further — combining Smart’s expanding 4G and 5G network with ultra-low latency to deliver lag-free video calling, smoother streaming, and better mobile gaming experiences nationwide.
“Our sustained network investments enable us to stay true to Smart’s DNA of democratizing the most advanced mobile experiences and making the latest innovations accessible to more Filipinos,” said Lloyd R. Manaloto, FVP at Smart. “With ViLTE, we are enhancing everyday communication by empowering our customers with a clearer and more immersive way to connect.”
How to activate Video Calls powered by ViLTE
To get started, Smart and TNT users can activate ViLTE in just a few taps:
- Go to Settings > Mobile or Cellular Network
- Enable VoLTE / HD Voice
- Turn on ViLTE / Video over LTE / Video Calling
Both the caller and receiver must have VoLTE and ViLTE enabled, and be within Smart’s LTE or 5G coverage. The feature also works over WiFi.
Smart recommends updating to the latest Android version and using ViLTE-ready smartphones from brands like Samsung, Huawei, OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, Infinix, Tecno, ZTE, and Itel for the best experience.
