Museo P. Lhuillier Antipolo: Explore Filipino Heritage, Faith, and Art

Wednesday, December 10

Antipolo just welcomed a new gem for art lovers, history buffs, and anyone seeking a space for quiet reflection. Museo P. Lhuillier, a cultural and spiritual haven, officially opened its doors, offering a unique blend of Filipino heritage, religious devotion, and global influences—all inspired by the life and service of Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier.

Nestled in the heart of Antipolo, the museum is more than just a collection of beautiful objects. It is a labor of love, a diplomatic legacy, and a heartfelt invitation to Filipinos to connect with stories of faith, history, and culture. From European antiques to sacred religious artifacts, each piece tells a story of the Ambassador’s decades-long career in diplomacy and his deep appreciation for art and heritage.

Ambassador Lhuillier’s Vision: Sharing Heritage with the Filipino Public

For Ambassador Lhuillier, the museum is the culmination of years of careful curation and reflection. “Many of these pieces have been carefully kept for years,” he shared during the opening. “It has long been my hope to make these pieces accessible to the Filipino public. My hope is that Museo P. Lhuillier becomes a place of reflection and discovery, where visitors can connect with stories of faith, heritage, and global tradition.”

His journey in public service spans 17 years across countries like Italy, Albania, San Marino, Portugal, and Spain. During this time, he consistently championed the welfare of overseas Filipinos while promoting Philippine culture abroad. His career reflects a commitment not only to diplomacy but also to uplifting communities at home and worldwide.

Before his diplomatic career, Ambassador Lhuillier helped expand access to micro financial services through Cebuana Lhuillier, empowering everyday Filipinos. This commitment to service naturally evolved into broader initiatives supporting culture, community, and philanthropy.

A Family Legacy of Service and Inspiration

The museum also serves as a living testament to the Lhuillier family’s values. Jean Henri Lhuillier, President and CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier, emphasized how his father’s dedication to service has shaped their family’s path: “Seeing his impact reflected in this museum is deeply meaningful.”

Camille Lhuillier-Albani, General Manager of Casa de Memoria, added, “Growing up, we often saw how much these pieces meant to him. Seeing them now shared with the public feels deeply special. This museum reflects not only his love for art and history but his desire to give Filipinos a place for quiet reflection and connection.”

What You Can Expect at Museo P. Lhuillier

Museo P. Lhuillier is designed to offer a serene, educational, and inspiring experience. Visitors can explore:

Beyond its art and artifacts, the museum represents a broader vision: celebrating Filipino identity in a global context. It demonstrates how heritage can be preserved, shared, and appreciated by future generations. For Antipolo, it strengthens the city’s reputation as a destination for culture, faith, and heritage tourism.

For visitors, Museo P. Lhuillier is not just a place to see beautiful objects—it is a space to reflect on Filipino history, connect with global cultures, and draw inspiration from a life dedicated to service. Grupo Kwadro's 9th Anniversary: A Showcase of Artistic Diversity

Sunday, September 15

Roberto Martin Sing
Roberto Martin Sing - P.O.V.

Since its establishment in 2015, Grupo Kwadro has been continuously conducting weekly painting sessions to improve the members' artistry, aside from keeping in touch with one another. Currently, the group meets every Tuesday, alternating between Gateway Gallery and a collector's residence, both in Quezon City. The live portrait sessions last for around four hours, amidst classic music hits, instant coffee, and snacks shared by everyone. It is during these sessions that the members practice or explore using their preferred medium, refine their techniques, and develop their style.

Sometimes, during these sessions, they even create a new one. The group remains true to its purpose of continuously improving the members' talents and skills. After the session, the group usually stays for an evening of fellowship that includes catching up with one another, art discussions, laughter, and sometimes music or karaoke. For Grupo Kwadro, Tuesday has become a special; a day they always look forward to.

With the member changes, Grupo Kwadro's diversity in terms of style has grown too. This, along with the members’ diligent efforts to nurture their artistry can be witnessed in the group's upcoming 9th Anniversary Exhibition entitled "Harmony @ 9" at the Gateway Gallery, 5th floor, Gateway Tower, at the heart of Araneta City in Quezon City. The show will run from September 10 to 17, 2024. The group invites all to see and experience the works firsthand.

The exhibit is also part of the group's countdown to its much-anticipated tenth-year anniversary, which will happen next year. The members look forward to its tenth year, like every Tuesday, when they can all be together and live up to the group's purpose from the day it was established.

Traverse through a journey of art, technology, and colors with BGC’s Wisdom of Da Vinci, now running until October

Saturday, August 5

Wisdom of Da Vinci

Breathtaking spectacles fill the three-part showcase, providing an immersive experience like no other

Get to see the full range of human experience translated as massive digital paintings bridging art, science, and technology as Bonifacio Global City (BGC) will finally be unveiling Wisdom of Da Vinci: An Immersive AI Experience starting August 5.

With Leonardo Da Vinci’s work as its highlight, Wisdom of Da Vinci offers an immersively different yet modern take on renowned pieces from various art masters, never before seen in the country – until now. Together with new media studio Ouchhh, BGC places all in a world of an impressive collection of digital art, redefining art through light and technology.

A taste of what’s to come with The Curator Lounge

With the use of Ouchhh’s proprietary machine learning program, visual art installations are created based on data collected from multiple sources, effectively transforming science into art.

That said, Wisdom of Da Vinci: An Immersive AI Experience starts off with the Curator Lounge, a digital collection intersecting art and science. Here, get to bask in captivating works that blend traditional art forms with technology, all of which push the boundaries of artistic expression.

First to greet guests within the Curator Lounge is the Poetic AI Gallery, an exhibition that explores the relationship between human creativity and technology. It draws on a digital library of 20 million lines derived from the works of scientists such as Einstein and Galileo Galilei, and blends the best of Ouchhh’s signature aesthetics with cutting-edge AI algorithms.

Explore further until you discover the next part of the Curator Lounge, Manila Real-time Data Artwork, taking you on a journey through the Philippines' economy. Utilizing data from budgets, agriculture, and statistics, the result is a data piece fluctuating in real-time, changing as it reflects the nation’s pulse.

Experiencing art in motion with Digital Garden of Dreams

Coming next is the first immersive hall, Digital Garden of Dreams, a hall of dynamic artwork featuring four chapters of data paintings:

Atlas, inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man and his study of the human body to bring together the work of scientists the world over;

DataGate, a collaboration with NASA using data gathered by the Kepler space telescope covering 500,000 stars, 2,500 planets, and 60 supernovae;

Superstrings, a cognitive performance that features real-time brain waves of the members of Manila Symphony Orchestra during the exhibit’s opening; and

Filipino Master, featuring the works of Juan Luna created throughout his lifetime, translated as data paintings.

A spectacularly modern showcase with Wisdom of Da Vinci

Keep traversing through the exhibit’s whirlwind of art, energy, and colors, and you will eventually find yourself in the mind of the genius that is Leonardo da Vinci, called Wisdom of Da Vinci, the second immersive hall. From the timelessness of the Mona Lisa down to the details of his manuscripts, this room breathes life to its own abstract aesthetic language, all created using data from sketches, invention plans and paintings of Da Vinci.

Breathtaking visuals will be accompanied by compelling music curated and performed by world-famous composer Ludovico Einaudi. ( Watch HERE )

Drawing a better future: Kwentoon joins Globe's Hapag Movement to boost local talent and combat hunger

Monday, July 31

Globe Communications Expert Jan Merced talks about the Hapag Movement's beneficiary stories and calls on artists to unite for the cause.

In a unique blend of art and social awareness, Kwentoon, a Philippine start-up connecting young audiences to thoughtfully selected visual content, has teamed up with the Hapag Movement to help address involuntary hunger.

As part of this advocacy, 10% of every ticket sold at the recently held Kwentoon Festival 2023 will be donated to the Globe-led movement, a social initiative aimed at eradicating involuntary hunger through supplemental feeding and livelihood training for struggling Filipinos.

Kwentoon Festival 2023 was held at SM Megatrade Hall 3, with over 150 exhibitors and artists and a total 1,439 visitors. The event showcased a range of activities, including workshops, talks, and the Mango Boot Camp Graduation in partnership with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines. One of the event's highlights was the Philippine Children's Content Awards, which aims to recognize the creativity and originality of Filipino comic artists, or the so called “kwentoons.”

The Kwentoon Manga Boot Camp graduates with their mentors, Elmer Damaso, James Atillo, and Tepai Pascual, and along with IPOPHIL Officials Atty. Jay Bayaras, Jun Briola, Gabriel Fernandez, and Tinie Baoy.

"We are excited to be part of the Hapag Movement, not only to promote homegrown talent but to also address pressing societal concerns," said Isa Songco, Kwentoon Co-Founder.

She added: “Filipino artists are actually very good but unfortunately a lot of them get outsourced by firms overseas. That is why when it comes to animation or manga, there is not a lot of intellectual property from the Philippines. So our progression is actually delayed in comparison to our neighboring countries. Recognizing the imperative for local job creation, we hold the Hapag Movement dear to our hearts. This initiative not only fights hunger but also creates a wealth of opportunities for our fellow Filipinos.”

Yoly Crisanto, Globe Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, thanked Kwentoon for its support as she cited the community’s unique opportunity to use art as a way to raise awareness about social issues, particularly hunger.

“Art has the ability to evoke empathy and compassion like no other medium can. We are grateful to have Kwentoon as a partner in the Hapag Movement and to have on board visual storytellers who can draw attention to the problem of involuntary hunger through art,” Crisanto said.

Established in 2020, Kwentoon aims to inspire and equip local artists to create kid-friendly visual narratives. It connects young audiences to curated content that promotes the values of love of country and family, camaraderie, and hope.

The collaboration between Globe and Kwentoon is a testament to the power of innovative alliances that not only enrich local artistry but also address pertinent societal challenges. The partnership further resonates with the growing need for the comic and manga communities to become more socially conscious and drive changes that have a profound impact on society.
