PWD Artworks Exhibit at SM Marikina's Art for Everyone 2018

Have you ever wondered if you could paint? I love arts. I am fascinated by the strokes and how the hues blend to create a masterpiece. Painting an artwork was in my bucket list for years until I had mustered the courage to actually paint in August 2015.

SM Supermalls takes pride in giving its customers meaningful opportunities to bond with friends and family as SM kicks off Art For Everyone 2018 on August 27 a selling exhibit that serves as a fun venue for artists to showcase and sell their artworks and masterpieces.

Art for Everyone 2018 celebrates artist diversity – from budding artists, art enthusiasts, and hobbyists to renowned artists and art groups. Since 2016, the art fair has been delighting mall goers with a refreshing vibe in the malls through a fun-filled art sale and exhibit.

This year, Art for Everyone has come closer to customers in 23 malls all over the country. SM City Marikina supported by SM Cares, together with partners Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists, Autism Society Philippines, Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, Mr. Ignacio Estrada and Tahanang Walang Hagdan, focuses on the works of these organizations and the mall aims to inspire others and collaborate leading to an inclusive society that we all aspire.

Sharing a renewed vision to further promote the local art scene and to support the upcoming Filipino artists, the week-long art fair invites everyone to discover art and to also get in touch with their artistic side and creativity through different art pieces.

“This year, Art for Everyone will give mall goers meaningful reasons to bond with loved ones as we bring this fun-filled celebration of art, creativity, and family fun moments closer to them in 23 malls across the country,” said Jonjon San Agustin, SM Supermalls SVP for marketing.

SM City Marikina’s Art for Everyone exhibit will run from August 27 until August 31, 2018 at the mall Atrium. Art for Everyone exhibits can also be seen in the following SM malls: Megamall, The Podium, Mall of Asia, Aura Premier, Southmall, Novaliches, San Jose Del Monte, Sta. Mesa, Angono, Marikina, Sucat, Muntinlupa, Cabanatuan, Telabastagan, Bacoor, Santa Rosa, Batangas, Lucena, Naga, Cebu, Bacolod, Davao, and Cagayan De Oro Downtown

Sip & Gogh: Making Snapped and Scribbled Paint

All my life I've been wondering if I have a bit of creative skill in my blood. When I was little, I used to pose for my grandmother. She has a small notebook filled with pencil sketches. I also have cousins who paint. I can draw. But I don't know if I can paint until yesterday. Merck Philippines hosted an event for the press and bloggers last August 5, 2015 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel to commemorate Fertility Awareness Month and we were treated to a craft therapy.

I was both excited and nervous. Most of the participants are first timers. But the artists from Sip and Gogh assured us that we'd be surprised with how our art work will turn out.

Challenge: The painting behind Aika.

The instructor guided us step by step.

The Doctors' Row

I was so happy with how the background of my painting turned out. Honestly, I want to stop at this point. I'm scared I'd mess it up if I go on.

I remembered being told, "Don't be hindered by fear." And I continued painting. The trunks and the branches looked good.

And then the fence...

Had I stopped at the background, I'll never know that I'm capable of painting a tree. And suddenly, I felt fulfilled.

Thank you so much Merck Serono and Sip & Gogh for the opportunity to write this off my bucket list.
