Gatorade Fueled Liga

Recognizing the real transformative power of community sports, Gatorade launches “Fueled Liga,” a barangay grassroots program that will engage 150 communities across Luzon in the spirit of friendly competition with exciting sports skills-building activities and essential proper hydration education.

Fueled Liga is a key program under Gatorade’s “Sweat Unites Us” campaign – a massive nationwide movement that inspires players to play better and give more to their team. Fueled by Gatorade, the world’s leading sports drink, players “sweat more” for their teams, which fosters deeper connections, promotes greater teamwork and socialization, and creates more opportunities to have fun while keeping healthy and fit.

Gatorade Fueled Liga

Gatorade acknowledges that every time players play the sport they love, every pass or assist sparks genuine camaraderie and strengthens bonds, which leads to more epic team moments. The more they play and sweat together, the more they connect, united in the excitement of winning and achieving their team goals.

In each Fueled Liga barangay leg, Gatorade will host fun basketball and volleyball challenges to test each participant’s sports skills. Anyone can participate in these activities – they just need to present a Gatorade glass bottle crown or “tansan” during the event.

Those who win the challenges will take home fantastic brand merchandise and prizes.

Gatorade will also choose Barangay MVPs to participate in the upcoming Gatorade Fueled Liga camps happening between June to August, which are exclusive basketball and volleyball clinics powered by Gatorade Brand Ambassadors LA Tenorio, Alyssa Valdez, and Dwight Ramos.

Gatorade Brand Ambassadors will attend Fueled Liga events to encourage aspiring athletes by sharing their “Laking Liga” stories, focusing on how their community leagues helped them grow as excellent athletes throughout their journey.

In addition to holding the Fueled Liga sports skills-building challenges, Gatorade will also sponsor several court refurbishments, such as replacements for basketball and court backboards and volleyball nets – to improve playing experiences in the communities.

“At Gatorade, we uphold sports’ transformative, bond-strengthening power, which is truly evident in activities like community leagues. Most Filipinos, in fact, play for the social aspect of these games – not only do they get to play the sport they love, but they also enjoy the chance to socialize with their teammates and have fun,” says Katrina Suarez, PepsiCo Philippines Marketing Lead for Non-Carbonated Beverages.

“This opportunity inspires them to give more to their teams, ultimately promoting better teamwork and skills. And through all that, Gatorade will provide the proper hydration and the right fuel to ensure they remain on top of their games, enabling them to give more and sweat more for their teams. For this reason, we are going to different barangays with our Fueled Liga program to host these much-anticipated sports activities and provide proper hydration education.”

Fueled Liga will run from March 23 to July of this year. For more information and updates, follow https://www.facebook.com/GatoradePH on Facebook and instagram https://www.instagram.com/gatoradeph/.

Life lessons big dreamer Willy Wonka can teach us

Stream the fantastical Timothée Chalamet-starrer with your family and friends right at home with HBO GO powered by PLDT Home

Roald Dahl’s vivid imagination brought to life the whimsical and fantastical world of Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory. From chocolate rivers to edible landscapes, the sheer creativity of the setting has been captivating audiences of all ages since the release of the book in 1964.

The latest iteration of the timeless story is the musical film Wonka – directed by Paul King and starring Timothée Chalamet – is now available locally through HBO GO powered by PLDT Home.

Wonka traces the billionaire chocolate maker’s beginnings. Chalamet plays the aspiring inventor, magician, and chocolatier newly arrived in Europe after traveling the world for seven years. Here are a few life lessons that the world’s most popular chocolatier himself can teach us:

Work hard, persist, differentiate yourself

Every entrepreneur or employee faces logistical challenges and fierce competition. Sometimes, it seems impossible to overcome obstacles, but there is always a way. Much like in Wonka, you can’t get a shop without selling chocolate, and you can’t sell chocolate without a shop. That’s indeed a conundrum yet Wonka persists in making his chocolate – leveraging his skills as a magician, inventor, and showman.

Pay attention to details

Wonka learns a lesson by not reading the fine print in Mrs. Scrubitt’s contract and he gets stuck working for her to pay off his debt. In real life, whether it’s a side hustle contract or your rental agreement, remember to always read the fine print! It’s literally fine print because it sometimes stipulates conditions you may not agree to had it been front and center.

Be creative, be imaginative

When people say use your imagination, they usually mean it sarcastically. Well, Wonka does use his imagination –and it pays off handsomely, getting his chocolate to the masses and a measure of popularity. Wonka invents “hoverchocs” or chocolates that make people fly for 20 minutes. He also invents Big Night Out chocolate, which allows the eater to feel like he’s on a night out, making him sing and dance. Wonka’s Broadway Choc has the same effect – but with better choreography as if you were on a Broadway show. They sure got everyone’s attention!

Find your inspiration

Wonka’s inspiration is his mother’s love. “Hold on to your dreams,” his mother told him when he was a young boy. Throughout his difficulties Wonka held on to these words like a lifeline. Whatever it is that inspires you to get up earlier in the morning or work later in the night, use it.

From Paul King, writer/director of the Paddington films, David Heyman, producer of Harry Potter, Gravity, Barbie and Paddington, and producers Alexandra Derbyshire (the Paddington films, Jurassic World: Dominion) and Luke Kelly (Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical), comes an intoxicating mix of magic and music, mayhem and emotion, all told with fabulous heart and humor. Starring Timothée Chalamet in the title role, this irresistibly vivid and inventive big screen spectacle will introduce audiences to a young Willy Wonka, as he becomes the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker.

Starring alongside Chalamet are Calah Lane (The Day Shall Come), Emmy® and Peabody Award winner Keegan-Michael Key (The Prom, Schmigadoon), Paterson Joseph (Vigil, Noughts + Crosses), Matt Lucas (Paddington, Alice in Wonderland, Little Britain), Mathew Baynton (The Wrong Mans, Ghosts), Oscar® nominee Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water, the Paddington films, Spencer), Rowan Atkinson (the Johnny English and Mr. Bean films, Love Actually), Jim Carter (Downton Abbey), with Oscar® winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite, The Lost Daughter, The Crown) and Hugh Grant (Paddington 2, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral). The film also stars Natasha Rothwell (The White Lotus, Insecure), Rich Fulcher (Marriage Story, Disenchantment), Rakhee Thakrar (Sex Education, Four Weddings and a Funeral), Tom Davis (Paddington 2, King Gary) and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Paddington 2, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Mary Poppins Returns).

Ena Mori drops “Heartache Generation,” her first single after 2022 album release

Ena Mori

The much-awaited song comes with a one-take video shot entirely using smart glasses

Filipino-Japanese artist Ena Mori continues to break new ground with the release of her new single “Heartache Generation,” via Offshore Music and Sony Music Entertainment.

The eclectic track chronicles the singer-songwriter’s bouts with existential crisis as she approaches her birthday, fearing the inability to capture the same sense of purpose and wonder amidst the noise reverberating inside her head.

“Heartache Generation is written by me, and it’s about being afraid of getting older and feeling overwhelmed with life that changes so quickly—an existential crisis that comes with anxiety and pressure,” Ena shares. “This is the first single after the album has been released and an introduction to what kind of direction I'm going for the next big release.”

As a pop trailblazer that embraces the unconventional with ease, Ena Mori and her co-producer Tim Marquez explore contemporary and vintage music elements with the same kind of adventurousness often heard in their previous collaborations, but with a fresher and more inspired take.

The VIVID act adds, “We experimented with different textures of sound, such as nylon guitar, percussions, and synthesizers, and it definitely gives a dimension that is different from the previous releases. Sonically, I added tiny but significant touches of new sounds here and there, something you haven't heard from my album.”

The official release of “Heartache Generation” comes with a music video that Ena Mori shot on Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. Being more in control of the visual direction this time around, the young music prodigy conceptualized the narrative with tech-first creative lab Tony & and was heavily involved even in production design. The one-take video premiered and was streamed live on March 5, 2024, at 7p.m.—the exact day and time that it was shot.

“Being able to conceptualize together with Tony & team was such a blissful experience. Up to a tiny detail such as the color of the balloons and auroras, it truly was something we all envisioned, and we are very happy that it came to life,” Ena shares in a press statement.

The MV reflects the nature of the lyrics, starting with a birthday party gone strange. As Ena puts it, “the visuals show how fast life changes; you have to be the one to chase after rather than life being beside us.”

Ena Mori’s “Heartache Generation” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Offshore Music and Sony Music Entertainment.

Choosing the Right Nursing Bra: Comfort, Support and Functionality

Choosing the Right Nursing Bra: Comfort, Support and Functionality

Pregnancy and nursing a child are wonderful experiences, but they can also be uncomfortable. You may find that your clothing, especially your undergarments, just don’t fit right and your bras don’t provide you with the support and access you need. Whether you are currently pregnant or have had your child and plan to nurse, you need a comfortable, supportive nursing bra. This is what to look for.

Consider the Types of Nursing Bras

Like regular bras, nursing bras come in a variety of types. For example, you may need sleep nursing bras with a low V-shaped neckline that you can easily pull down. You should also choose a soft-cup bra that allows you to lower your cup from the shoulder strap, but some of these may lack the support you desire if you are out and about. For added support, you can find underwire nursing bras that also have clips at the shoulder.

Although they were difficult to find in the past, today’s manufacturers even provide sports nursing bras, and you can use some sports bras that zip in the front as nursing options. Other manufacturers offer tank tops with built-in nursing bras, including camisoles with somewhat hidden clips. Finally, if you have to pump, you have access to pumping bras that you can wear to make the process easier.

Get the Right Size

The first factor that you should consider when choosing a comfortable nursing bra is size. Make sure you have the right size. You may go into a lingerie store and have yourself professionally measured, or you can complete an at-home quiz and measurement.

Look for gaping cups or spillage over the tops or under the band. Also, pay attention to whether your straps stay put or slip. Finally, watch your sides for spillage or support.

Choose a Stretchy Material

Your breast size and shape change during pregnancy and while you nurse. Therefore, consider choosing a strong, supportive, stretchy material that won’t constrict your breasts or leave gaps in the cups. Stretchy fabrics offer the greatest flexibility.

Breathable Fabric

You also want the fabric of your bras to breathe well. Many recommend cotton or organic bras because they tend to be durable, lightweight and breathable. They also draw moisture from your body, but you should wear nursing pads because they may take longer to dry, making you somewhat uncomfortable.

Support and Coverage

While you nurse, your bra’s support can significantly impact your comfort. You need to be sure your breasts receive adequate support, but your shoulders, back and neck also need support. Choose options with thick straps that distribute the weight of your breasts. Also, avoid bras that allow your breasts to sag, which can impact your back and neck.

Adjustability and Closures

As your breasts change, your bra should have adjustable straps and additional hooks in the back. Also, try the one-hand test to make sure you can remove your cups with one hand, making the process quick and easy without putting your baby down.

As you test different bra styles, fabrics and structures, check for common bra problems. Choose bras that best fit your body and function well.

Mondelēz International Inspires Inclusion

Wednesday, March 20, 2024

· Company leads discussions on diversity, equity and inclusion in the Philippines
· Celebrating International Women’s Month by joining Women’s Run PH

Mondelēz International, a leading global snacks company, proudly inspired inclusion during its Women's Month celebration activities in the Philippines with a commitment to foster Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) inside and outside its workplace. To empower the women in their organization, the Company’s ambition is to continuously grow the number of women leaders in its organization.

Talking, Leading, and Running for Women Empowerment

As part of its commitment to DEI, Mondelēz International hosted three (3) events for its colleagues and stakeholders this March. The first one was the "#InspireInclusion She-ssions” held last March 4, 2024, which was a panel discussion on empowering women in the workplace. This event served as a platform for thought leaders, advocates, and professionals to engage in dialogue surrounding the vital importance of women's empowerment in today's landscape. The event featured women leaders within the organization from Sales and Manufacturing; as well as external speaker Audrey Dimarucot, mom, entrepreneur, and owner of clothing brand googoo and gaga; and Parañaque City Vice Mayor Joan Villafuerte, who shared her insights on women in government and how to inspire inclusion in the country. Mondelēz International has called Parañaque City its home for the past 61 years, and the Company looks to its leaders to share insights on promoting DEI.

Parañaque City Vice Mayor Joan Villafuerte

“The more that people are invited, the more they are involved and the more that they follow policy,” shared Vice Mayor Villafuerte. “For me that is inclusion. It means empowering people to speak up, empowering people to participate, and making them realize that they are part of government.”

In a significant stride towards inclusion, the Company welcomed its first Filipino Woman Managing Director in 15 years: Aleli Arcilla. This milestone not only underscores the Company's commitment to promoting female leadership but also exemplifies the tangible strides towards gender parity within its ranks.

Arcilla was recently herself a panelist during the second event, the “Building Inclusive Workplaces” session hosted by the Makati Business Club last March 1, 2024. "At Mondelez Philippines, we understand that diversity fuels creativity, equity promotes fairness, and inclusion fosters belonging,” said Arcilla “These principles are not just aspirational; they are integral to our workplace culture and essential for driving long-term success in an ever-evolving snacks industry."

In addition to these discussions, Mondelēz International sought to show woman power by participating in a third event, the Filipina CEO Circle (FCC) Women's Run PH, further demonstrating its solidarity with the broader movement towards gender equality. Twenty women employees joined the run, proof that women are strong and ready to take on the world. The runners were from different departments, from Finance, Marketing, Sales, HR, and Logistics and was also part of the Company’s wellbeing initiatives.

Calling Women Leaders to the Front

Mondelēz International proudly boasts a leadership composition comprising 69% women, indicative of its steadfast dedication to providing equal opportunities for career advancement and professional growth. In alignment with its broader commitment to Economic Inclusion and Supplier Diversity (EISD), the Company also collaborates with women-owned businesses within its supply chain. Through training and empowerment sessions, the goal of the engagement is to help support the growth of these businesses.

Through these initiatives and achievements, Mondelēz International reaffirms its steadfast commitment to fostering a workplace culture that celebrates diversity, champions equity, and ensures the inclusion of all voices.

Embracing sustainability in the workplace

Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines

In line with its commitments, Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines, Inc. (PPCPI) continues to develop programs and methods to ensure that its employees can fully appreciate and embrace the value of sustainability as part of their lives. The exclusive manufacturer and distributor of well-loved brands such as Pepsi, Mountain Dew, and Gatorade, PCPPI holds itself accountable to three key pillars in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals: inclusive business, water stewardship, and circular economy.

“Today’s consumers exercise a keener sense of discernment, particularly when it relates to the values of the companies they support,” said Atty. Carina S. Bayon, PCPPI’s Chief Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Officer. “For PCPPI, sustainability has always been at the heart of our operations. There are separate bins for recyclable and non-recyclable waste materials to allow the proper handling and recycling of items that may still be processed for alternative use.

Select PCPPI offices also utilize LED and motion sensor lights, as they consume less energy compared to regular incandescent lights. Through the annual Working Environment Measurement (a sampling method for measuring work environment or conditions) review conducted by its Environment, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) team, management gets to ensure that all of PCPPI offices and production facilities observe optimal working conditions for employee well-being and operational productivity.

PCPPI employees are also encouraged to bring their own reusable utensils at work, like stainless utensils and bamboo tumblers. Water refilling stations are also set up to minimize the use of plastic cups when employees refresh themselves throughout the day. Going digital also allows employees to reduce paper use, as emails, conferencing platforms, and other network-based channels facilitating information exchange and collaboration across PCPPI’s offices nationwide.

Atty. Bayon shared that aside from saving on expenses, implementing sustainability-focused policies in the workplace can contribute to employee health and well-being, as well as a shared sense of purpose. “Achieving sustainability is a shared responsibility—there’s no single team or department that carries it forward. It is the promise of creating a better future for generations to come drives us at PCPPI to champion this cause as we practice responsible operations,” she said.
