The next evolution in photo editing: Radiant Photo 2 is on its way!

Tuesday, December 10

Radiant Imaging Labs

Radiant Imaging Labs is pleased to announce the release of Radiant Photo 2, the latest evolution in photo editing software. Packed with smart features, advanced tools and powerful workflows, Radiant Photo 2 takes creativity and efficiency to the next level, making professional-quality results accessible to everyone.

"Photographers deserve tools that don’t just meet standards—they raise them," said Elia Locardi, CEO of Radiant Imaging Labs and professional photographer. "Radiant Photo 2 is designed to do exactly that. By intuitively understanding each photo—its lighting, subject, and background—it delivers results that are both precise and effortless. It’s more than editing software; it’s a tool built to empower photographers and creators to achieve their best work without compromise."

Radiant Photo’s interface is designed to simplify and enhance the editing process, providing photographers with a streamlined and efficient workflow.

AI with a purpose

Radiant Photo 2 uses Artificial Intelligence, but unlike other software, we do not use Generative AI. Our goal is simple: to make your existing pixels the best they can be while keeping you in complete control of your image. We ensure no personal data is transferred from the application to our company or the cloud. Every edit is processed locally on users’ devices, ensuring the fastest speed as well as privacy and security. We are committed to respecting intellectual property and artists and empowering our users with Assistive AI that enhances photographers’ creativity instead of replacing it.

Key Highlights of Radiant Photo 2

Intelligent scene detection for faster editing

The software automatically detects the type of scene—landscape, portrait or otherwise—and adjusts the image accordingly, directly after loading the image in Radiant Photo. For each scene it recognises, Radiant Photo 2 offers a unique selection of Develop Settings for different editing styles. Users can then delve deeper into this first editing step, using the professional editing tools and creative color grading tools to achieve the perfect image look.

Unique workflows

Radiant Photo 2 differentiates itself with optional workflows tailored to specific photography genres. The first four new workflows, portraiture, landscapes, pets, and birds, will be published with the release of Radiant Photo 2.

Portraiture Workflow: Includes 10-point skin tone detection, intelligent color-cast correction, and dedicated scenes for studio, environmental, group and outdoor portraits.

Landscape Workflow: Optimized tools for all landscape and cityscape scenes including waterfalls, mountains or golden- and blue-hour lighting conditions.

Bird Workflow: The world's first intelligent editing workflow dedicated to bird photography, with 94 intelligent scenes, recognizing different types of birds from hummingbirds to birds of prey, and perfectly adjusting each image.

Pet Workflow: Designed for photography of all types of pets, making it fast and easy to perfect photos of dogs, cats, horses, and more.

Each specialized workflow is extensively trained to recognize a variety of scenes, enabling more precise photo development based on the subject in the image.

Workflows include specific color correction and film emulation looks. Radiant Photo 2 combines speed with quality, using intelligent scene recognition to deliver precise edits quickly and effortlessly.

New portrait tools

Radiant Photo 2 introduces innovative portrait tools, including Face Light, a feature designed to naturally lighten faces. It mimics the effect of a professional softbox on set, enhancing portraits with soft, even lighting while maintaining a natural look and depth. Whether you're shooting professional headshots or casual portraits, Face Light ensures your subjects always look their best.

  • Live Effects

Many editing tools today sacrifice image quality as they add more features. Radiant Photo 2, however, takes a different approach, preserving a truly non-destructive workflow while delivering superior results. Its advanced 16-bit live effects system ensures all tools work seamlessly together, providing consistent previews of adjustments and making it easy to revisit settings at any time. Unlike other software that often rasterizes images after masking, flattens them following major edits, or complicates reverting to basics like exposure after a black-and-white conversion, Radiant Photo keeps every adjustment fully editable. With Radiant Photo, you’re free to refine your edits whenever you need—no compromises.

  • Advanced scene and color tools

Radiant Photo 2 opens up endless creative possibilities with enhanced color correction options such as selective color adjustments, split color warmth, and new film emulations.

  • Customizable workspaces for a personalized experience

Radiant Photo 2 doesn’t overwhelm users with too many options. With its task-based workspaces, users only see the develop tools relevant for their image, while also allowing users to create custom layouts tailored to specific workflows.

Key features include

SoloToolMode: Automaticallycollapsesunusedtoolgroupstoreduce clutter.
FilterViews:Displaysonlytheactivetoolsfortheselectedworkspace.
Responsive interface:Dynamically adapts to user preferences for a streamlined editing experience.

  • A completely non-destructive workflow for seamless editing

Radiant Photo now includes sidecar file functionality, ensuring users never lose their creative adjustments. The software automatically saves all editing settings in a lightweight, XML-based sidecar file alongside the image. This allows users to reopen their photos in Radiant Photo at any time and continue editing exactly where they left off. Whether fine-tuning a previous project or exploring new creative directions, this feature enhances flexibility and streamlines the editing process for photographers and creators. In fact, you can even start editing right off a memory card and continue later where you left off.

  • Smart Batch Export

The standalone application features a Smart Batch Export function, enabling users to process multiple images simultaneously while maintaining consistent quality—perfect for professional workflows. Additionally, it integrates seamlessly as a plug-in for Lightroom Classic, allowing batch processing directly from Lightroom catalogs for enhanced efficiency.

Who is Radiant Photo 2 for?

Radiant Photo 2 is designed for anyone who values exceptional photo editing—whether you're an amateur capturing everyday moments, a professional photographer working on high-profile projects, or a content creator looking to stand out.

Enthusiasts and beginners

Radiant Photo 2's guided workflows and non-destructive editing provide an easy-to-use entry point for everyone. Experiment with confidence, knowing you can always return to your original image. While beginners will especially value how Radiant Photo enhances each image automatically, enthusiasts love the ability to adjust everything to their liking.

Professional Photographers

Precision and efficiency are at the heart of Radiant Photo 2. With tools like intelligent scene detection, customizable workflows, and the new Face Light feature, professionals can effortlessly polish their shots and save valuable editing time. Use it to get a head-start on your photos directly out of camera or as a finishing tool at the end of your edit. Radiant Photo’s ability to preserve the black and white points and its 16-bit workflow ensures that edits come out print-ready.

Content Creators

For influencers and marketers, Radiant Photo 2 provides an intuitive yet powerful solution for enhancing images for social media, websites and campaigns. Features such as Color Grading with retro filters and film emulations make it easier than ever to create eye-catching content. Options like the enhanced graduated filters and the new Face Light tool help to achieve a more professional look.

Availability, compatibility, languages and pricing

Radiant Photo 2 will first become available to current customers by the end of November. This will be followed by a public beta in December.

It runs as standalone software on Windows and macOS. It can also be used as a native plugin inside Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom Classic and Corel PaintShop Pro.

Radiant Photo supports the following languages: English, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Dutch and Spanish.

Images of Hope: Award-winning Zone V photographs to go on virtual sale

Thursday, October 21

Zone Five Camera Club (ZVCC or Zone V), one of the country’s most renowned fine-art photography clubs, will be holding an online exhibit and sale at www.zonev.org from October 23 to 31, 2021.

Called ‘Images of H.O.P.E.’ (HELPING OTHERS PROSPER & EXCEL), the week-long event will showcase some of the best still camera work by Zone V.

Many of these images have gained recognition in local and international photography competitions.

Helping the advocacy of education

Proceeds from the sale benefit the Assumption Development Foundation (ADF), a non-profit organization dedicated to the learning development of select youths of Sapang Palay, Bulacan.

Established in 1966, what would become ADF was borne out of necessity of a community of 20,000 informal settlers relocated from Manila to Bulacan.

Thrust into no man’s land and lacking the most basic of needs, a school was set up by a Carmelite Missionary and Assumption College San Lorenzo to provide, at the least, schooling for Grade 1 to 6 children.

ADF later became a foundation in 1995, whose mission is to “help disadvantaged children by breaking the cycle of poverty through education.”

An ADF website post (from November 2009 data) said that since inception, more than 586 high school students and 162 college students have graduated from the program.

‘Images of H.O.P.E.’ aims to sell 200 prints and raise at least P300,000, which will be used to buy computer equipment for ADF scholars.

The prevalence of distance learning makes computers a critical education tool in the new normal.

The transition to virtual

ZVCC members stay sharp by holding friendly competitions as a form of recreation and a way of challenging one another every month.

From its regular meetings and photo contests held at the Old Swiss Inn at Makati, the Club reached an impressive milestone when it transitioned onto online platforms in the first quarter of last year due to the pandemic lockdowns.

This virtual medium will serve as the stage for the ‘Images of H.O.P.E.’ exhibit/sale.

Featured will be color and black & white prints from its 50 members, including the club’s Ambassadors of Zone Five; a group composed of Jay Camus, Manny Inumerable, Cha Pagdilao, James Singlador, Danny Yu, and Ruben Castor Ranin, who was himself a recipient of an ADF scholarship.

ZVCC Ambassadors

Combined with his discerning eye for visual arts, photography became Jay’s platform to create beauty. Though he came across Zone Five at a 1993 exhibit, it wasn’t until about a decade later that he officially joined, later becoming Club president. Jay enjoys macro shooting the most, especially creating experimental, conceptual, and abstract images.

Another former ZVCC president, Manny was introduced to photography when he was 12 years old with an inherited Royal 35M rangefinder. His favorite subjects are landscapes and human interest. Manny’s biggest pride is his collection of amazing antique cameras, which are housed at their ancestral home turned museum, the “Galleria Taal” in Batangas.

Photography has been profoundly transformative for Cha; making simple everyday experiences fuller because of newfound keenness to details and the realization that there is beauty all around. She is the current chair of the Federation of Photographers of the Philippines Foundation Photo (FPPF) World Cup 2021, and is on her second term as president of ZVCC.

A recipient of the “Ani ng Dangal,” a prestigious award given out by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, James’ images represent his advocacy for environmental and nature conservation and a passion for travel and mountaineering. He has also won numerous awards from international photography competitions and was once the president of the FPPF Photo World Cup.

Danny had been shooting since the days of film before settling down to start a family. Now that he’s retired, his interest in photography was rekindled as a hobby. His favorite genres are travel and street photography. Danny is the former president of Copacabana Apartment Hotel and chairman of Copa Holdings, and also a former president of Zone Five.

As mentioned, Ruben is a proud scholar and product of the Assumption Development Foundation.

Ruben indulges in photography as a hobby and his interest in landscape and travel photography began during his mountaineering days in 2012. Ruben’s images have received numerous accolades, and he founded a couple of photography clubs before joining ZVCC as part of his personal advocacy.

“‘Images of H.O.P.E.’ is a showcase for the talents of ZVCC’s membership, but more than that it’s a way for us to use these talents in helping the community,” said current Club president Cha Pagdilao. “Right now ADF has 287 high school students in four high schools at Sapang Palay. It also provides assistance to 173 college students attending different universities, state colleges, and institutes.”

“Obviously, they need our support. For every photograph that you buy, you become a link in the chain of hope that allows access for students to learn and eventually prosper and excel,” she closed.

17-year old photographer Ganden Medved-Po launches book for the benefit of WWF

Monday, September 20

Ganden Medved-Po

The ocean covers about 70 percent of the Earth’s surface, serving as a home to diverse and breathtaking underwater gardens and marine wildlife. Truly, there is much to be discovered in the vast underwater world, and 17-year old photographer Ganden Medved-Po will give us a glimpse of its beauty as he unveils his “Life Below Water” ocean photography book. A joint project with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) – Philippines, “Life Below Water” is a compilation of photos featuring scenic seascapes and surreal marine life. The photos in the book were taken between 2020 and 2021 by Ganden during the COVID-19 pandemic under the mentorship of world-renowned underwater photographer Scott “Gutsy” Tuason. All proceeds from the sale of the book will benefit the sustainable fisheries work of the World Wide Fund for Nature - Philippines. “I’m proud of this collaborative project with the WWF because it combines two of my passions in life: photography and the ocean. With the help of my mentor, Gutsy Tuason, we were able to capture beautiful images of our marine life in the Philippines. Through these photos, I hope people will have a better appreciation of our oceans and to learn to care for them more,” said Ganden.

Ganden Medved-Po

WWF-Philippines Executive Director Katherine P. Custodio lauded Ganden for lending his talent, time and effort to promote awareness on marine conservation. “‘Life Below Water’ is a young person’s experience of the ocean, expressed through his chosen art of photography. The book is a reminder of why, what, how, and for whom we do our work of protecting our oceans.” She also added, “To Ganden, thank you for helping our fishing communities and for doing that in a way that is touching and inspiring. It gives me so much hope that young people like you and your peers in the WWF National Youth Council are doing what you can to change what would otherwise be a tragic ending for many people in our country. You are showing us how the power of one can create positive action in many.”

Ganden Medved-Po

Ganden’s love for the water started at a very young age, and by the time he was eight years old, he was swimming competitively. It was also around that time when he developed a love for photography. “The first time I started taking photos was probably on my parents’ old camera which they would use to document family celebrations and occasions. That was an old Panasonic camera,” said the upcoming photographer, who is the son of Christopher Po, chairman of Century Pacific Food, Inc. and Nanette Medved-Po, founder and chairperson of HOPE and Plastic Credit Exchange. Currently, his camera of choice is the Sony Rx100, which has been with him on all his adventures. Now a senior high school student in International School Manila, Ganden expresses his gratitude for his parents for encouraging him to pursue his love for photography and the ocean while advocating for the environment. Apart from being the team captain of the school’s swimming varsity team, he is also active in various organizations including the Photography Club Council where he organizes events and workshops, as well as the Ocean ActivISM council, advocating for ocean conservation and sustainability. In July 2021, he became a member of the WWF-Philippines National Youth Council.

What Do You Fear?

Sunday, January 3

This hedgehog is my cousin's pet. Nobody dared touch him all those months we've been having reunion meetings because we fear of getting pricked by his spines. Last night was our final meeting for the grand reunion of our clan and finally the hedgehog was taken out of his house.

The kids played with him. Still I didn't attempt to touch him.

We all have fears. It's normal. What isn't normal is when we let our fears hinder us from what we are supposed to do.

Don't let your fear of what could happen make nothing happen.

I always remind myself of what my former boss told me. He challenged me to do at least one thing every month that scares me. He said I'd be surprised that what I fear is all in the mind.

What do you fear?

If you ask me, I fear failure.

Sweet Success

Saturday, January 2

Sweet Success.

Maja is a dessert that somehow reminds me of my mom. Why? Because I can't remember if she was able to perfectly cooked this in her lifetime. As for me, I never attempted. This is one of my favorite desserts because it is not too sweet and I love anything with corn.

I was given a maja "ready mix". Honestly, I fear using those kind of products because most of the time, they taste fake. But I gave this one a try for three reasons. First, I'd rather fail than never try. Second, help was given and I acknowledge I need help. And third, I love maja.

There are things in my life that I've been attempting to be successful at but fail. From the mundane to the magnificent. Though I know I'd get hurt trying and failing, I will still choose to try.

It is also very humbling to admit that sometimes we need help. Somehow I've improved on this aspect. I used to do everything on my own. I don't like group assignments. I don't like to delegate. Until I got burned out. It was when I finally admitted that I can't do it on my own all the time. I need help.

We don't give up on what we love. No matter how we try to ignore, not a day passes by that we don't think of it. Just like the maja, whenever I see a photo or dine in a restaurant serving maja, memories of failed maja attempts and the urge to try and learn how to cook this haunt me.

“If it's still in your mind, it is still in your heart.” - Paulo Coelho

PS.
The maja I cooked was perfect.

Today Is The Beginning Of Anything You Want

Friday, January 1

Today is the beginning of anything you want.

I know I could start any day. But there's something about January 1 that convinces me it makes more sense to venture into something new. Or continue what I've started.

2015 was better that 2014. Although I can't remember most of what happened in 2014. I just feel like 2015 was better. I've reached some goals I set. There are disappointments. Mostly on things I have no control of. Which makes it very frustrating. Because I can't do anything about it.

For 2016, I want to do something life changing. Something daring. Something different. I want to challenge myself more.

I want to be better than I was in all aspects.

I want a life of "want to" and not "have to".

I want to be in charge.

After all, this is my LIFE.
