A Chance for Life: Hope for Justin

When I started a fundraising campaign for Baby Bien's liver transplant, the support of friends, relatives and kind anonymous people was so overwhelming. I believed from the very start that we will be able to raise the amount needed for the operation. And we did.

Another baby is needing our help. He is Justin Marc Russel Nieto Paga. He is also born with Biliary Atresia. Born June 29, 2012, Justin already underwent Kasai Procedure when he was 3 month old. Kasai is a surgical procedure that provides temporary passage way of bile out of the liver.


A biopsy of Justin's liver revealed that a liver transplant is necessary for him to live. His liver is damaged resulting to Biliary Atresia with Liver Cirrhosis. The operation will cost P3M-4M (US$70k-US$100k).

Let us once again help a baby have a fighting chance for life. No amount is too small to save his life.

Facebook... Blocked???

It has been two days since I was able to access Facebook. At first I thought there was a problem with the social network's app because I was trying to access it from iPad. Then I tried the laptop. Then my mobile phone. Then I thought there might be a problem with facebook. But for the most popular social network to be down for two days is unbelievable. 

Could it be my smartbro connection?

My sister can access the site and she's using smartbro.
My husband can access facebook too!

Why is it that I'm the only one who could not access facebook???

So I googled. 

Oh what will I do without google! 

So here's the solution I got.

For MOZILLA:
Click on Tools > Options > Network Tab > Settings > Select Manual proxy configuration.
HTTP Proxy should be: proxy.smartbro.net | port: 8080 > check ‘Use this proxy server for all protocols’ > Click OK.
For INTERNET EXPLORER (IE):
Click on Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > Under Proxy server, check ‘Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections)’.
Address should be: proxy.smartbro.net | port: 8080 > check Bypass proxy server for local addresses > Click OK > Click Apply.
For CHROME:

Crocodile Burger, Anyone?

I have been frequenting Wilcon Home Builders Depot these past few months. And every time I go there with my husband, we always grab a bite at Nueve Cafe located inside the depot. What is interesting with this cafe is the menu that offers crocodile meat.

I've been wanting to try the crocodile burger but when I'm about to order, I always back out.

I was at Watson's Megamall last Monday to buy a hand soap. I realized I don't buy products for my feet. Come to think of it, our feet are subjected to too much abuse. Well, at least in my case. I walk a lot. I am also too lazy moisturizing my feet. I saw this Intensive Repair Foot Mask by Purederm. I love that it's so easy to use. All I need to do is wear the mask like a pair of socks. No messy foot soaking.

Stephen Chbosky: The Perks of Being A Wallflower

I got interested with The Perks of Being A Wallflower after I saw an interview with Emma Watson. It was only then that I learned about the book. When my cousin mentioned the book in her facebook status, I got more interested.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is written by Stephen Chbosky. He also directed the film. It is about a boy who is in a confused stage of adolescence. Charlie, an ordinary introvert high school freshman, narrates the story by writing letters to an anonymous person.

I enjoyed reading the book I was able to finish it overnight. Too bad I wasn't able to watch the film. I'm still waiting for the dvd release.

Here are some of my favorite lines:

I just need to know that someone out there listens and understands and doesn't try to sleep with people even if they could have. I need to know that these people exist.

So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I am still trying to figure out how could that be.

...As much as I feel sad, I think that not knowing is what really bothers me.

I wish I knew. It might make me miss him more clearly. It might have made sad sense.

We accept the love we think we deserve.

I do believe in God very much. I just never gave God a name, if you know what I mean. I hope I haven't let Him down regardless.

I don't know if you've ever felt like that. That you wanted to sleep for a thousand years. Or just not exist. Or just not be aware that you do exist. Or something like that. I think wanting that is very morbid, but I want it when I get like this. That's why I'm trying not to think.

...things change. And friends leave. And life doesn't stop for anybody.

People who try to control situations all the time are afraid that if they don't, nothing will work out the way they want.

I would die for you. But I won't live for you.

It's sweet and everything, but it's like you're not even there sometimes. It's great that you can listen and be a shoulder to someone, but what about when someone doesn't need a shoulder? What if they need the arms or something like that? You can't just sit there and put everybody's lives ahead of yours and think that counts as love. You just can't. You have to do things.

If somebody likes me, I want them to like the real me, not what they think I am. And I don't want them to carry it around inside. I want them to show me, so I can feel it, too. I want them to be able to do whatever they want around me. And if they do something I don't like, I'll tell them.

We are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we'll never know most of them. But even if we don't have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. We can still do things. And we can try to feel okay about them.

I think that if ever I have kids, and they are upset, I won't tell them that people are starving in China or anything like that because it wouldn't change the fact that they were upset. And even if somebody else has it much worse, that doesn't really change the fact that you have what you have.

As we went into the tunnel, I didn't hold up my arms like I was flying. I just let the wind rush over my face. And I started crying and smiling at the same time...

...but mostly, I was crying because I was suddenly very aware of the fact that it was me standing up in that tunnel with the wind over my face. Not caring if I saw downtown. Not even thinking about it. Because I was standing in the tunnel. And I was really there. And that was enough to make me feel infinite.

Please believe that things are good with me, and even if they're not, they will be soon enough. And I will believe the same about you.

Octoberfest at Casa Paradiso

The developer of Casa Paradiso hosted an Octoberfest Party last October 7. Yeah, I know this post is long overdue and I know that the month is almost over. But better late than very late :)

We moved at Casa Paradiso last September 22. Our soon to be neighbors are yet to move in.  I'm glad we were able to meet some of them during the party. I found out later on that the family who bought the unit next to ours is our relative.

When I was on a hunt for a Blemish Balm Cream (BB Cream) last year, I've read lots of good review about the Korean brand Etude House. I tried the Precious Mineral BB Cream a try and has been using it eversince.


Then last week, posted on their FB Page is a new product -- the Precious Mineral BBdation Special Kit. I was so excited to shop at the nearest Etude House the next day.


So what makes this kit special?

Well, there's a battery operated applicator. Without reading reviews regarding this product, I bought the kit. I tried it when I arrived home and uhhmm, I can't seem to appreciate it. I was expecting the applicator provide an evenly coverage. But nah. It's more of a face massager. (Or may be I don't know how to use it.)


The BBdation is priced at around P1,678. I also bought a My Dear Blooming Lips Talk because I want the freebie for purchases worth P2,000 (yeah, I'm a sucker for freebies!)

My Piece of Paradise


I woke up to a cold Monday morning here at our new home in Antipolo. I'm not a morning person but eversince we transferred here two weeks ago, my routine changed. I suddenly love waking up early and I'll be yawning around 10 in the evening. This is a positive change because I am insomniac. I usually sleep 4am and wakes up noon.

Daphne Home Scents

Me and hubby moved in to our new house last September 22. On my list of what to have is the Daphne Home Scents. There are three scents available -- Mint Jasmine Infusion, Home Made Lemon Tart and Acres of Lavander. The most popular amongst them is the Mint Jasmine Infusion based on what I've read from twitter.

True enough, this scent smells soooo good. I have this in my living room. But I'll be buying later the Home Made Lemon Tart for the Master Bath and the Acres of Lavander for the Master Bedroom.

PowerHouse Super Eraser Cleaning Pads

If you live in the Philippines, you are probably familiar with Japan Home Centre. The shop sells everything at P88 (approx. USD2.10). I have been patronizing their wide range of merchandise -- from housewares to dog stuff to crafts. It seems they have everything. Even food!


I saw this Super Eraser yesterday when I went shopping at Japan Home Centre. I was hesitant to buy because I'm not confident that the product will really work. This PowerHouse Super Eraser is similar to Procter & Gamble's Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and 3M's Scotch Brite Easy Erasing Pad. But this one is way cheaper.


I'm glad I bought this Super Eraser. I was able to effortlessly clean the couch. See the dirty upper part and the area cleaned by the Super Eraser. I'll be going to Japan Home Centre again later this afternoon to hoard this product :D
