Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa

During our recent trip to Singapore, we stayed at Siloso Beach Resort in Sentosa Island. I booked through their website a month in advance. I chose Siloso Beach Resort because it is conveniently located in Sentosa Island. It is easier for us to explore Sentosa and Universal Studios. I also love the resort setting compared to the hotels in the city.

Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa

We arrived at Changi Airport 9:35 in the morning. We took the MRT from the airport to Harbourfront. We ate lunch at Vivo City before boarding the Sentosa Express.

Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa

Hotel guests are given a complimentary Sentosa  Pass for the duration of stay. Entrance to Sentosa Island costs S$3.50. This Pass waives your entrance fee.

I paid S$765 for a 4d/3n stay in a Superior Twin Room with complimentary buffet breakfast. The room is simple and comfortable.

Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa

Alfresco Cafe is located on the ground floor near the beachfront. Buffet breakfast is served here from 730am to 1030am.

Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa

There are squirrels and birds eagerly waiting to be fed. Although feeding the animals is discouraged, the squirrels are very sneaky. They manage to get some food from your plate.

Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa

The breads are freshly baked every morning. We use the stairs instead of the lift and the smell of the breads is so inviting.

I'm not a big fan of croissant but Siloso Beach Resort's croissant made me reconsider. I love that it is soft and not flaky.

Baked beans, potatoes with cheese and chicken sausage

A generous serving of omelette

Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa

fried noodles, chicken dumpling and chicken pao

There is also a cereal station, salad station and dessert station. I noticed that they do not serve rice or congee. I'm a rice eater and really wished they'll serve rice.

Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa

Wish granted on the 3rd day of stay. According to the restaurant server, this is Nasi Lemak. The rice is cooked in coconut milk. This meal comes with anchovies, very spicy vegetables, cucumber and boiled egg. I was told that Nasi Lemak is a Malaysian dish.

After eating, we toured the resort. We went to the roof deck and voila,

Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa

The view is so magnificent. I can stay on the roof deck for hours and just marvel at the beauty of the beach.

Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa

There is a hammock near the pool where one can simply relax or read a good book.

Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa

A play area for the kids... and kids at heart. (Ahem.)

Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa

One of the reasons I chose Siloso Beach Resort is their spring water swimming pool. The water is very refreshing.

Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa

Lots of flowers surrounding the resort

If only I could bring home the plants..

Hope to be back soon! :D

I'll be spending a quiet time reading a book then spend the rest of the afternoon with my girlfriends window shopping. I can be girly in a skirt and be sporty in a tennis outfit practicing my backhand.

iFly Singapore

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

When I was planning for our Singapore trip, I searched for new activities to try. I've read from tripadvisor that iFly is a must try. There was no iFly yet during our previous trips to Singapore. I checked out the website and then send the link to my husband just in case he is interested (and I know he will be!) I know he will not pass up the chance to fly!

Day one at Sentosa Island, he booked his flight. The Adult Challenge Skydiving Package for first timers costs SGD79. This includes 2 skydives for 45 seconds each flight.

He was instructed to arrive an hour earlier than his scheduled flight. He needed to attend first a fifteen minutes training.

Tiger Airways

Monday, February 25, 2013

I was kinda hesitant to fly via a low cost carrier because of the horror stories I hear from travelers. It's either about a delayed flight or a misplaced luggage. Since I started travelling, I have only booked from two airlines -- Philippine Airlines and Cathay Pacific.

I revisited Singapore with hubby last week. I booked via Tiger Airways. According to its website, it is one of Asia's leading low cost carriers.

I was not disappointed.

I did not set a high expectation because of the impression that something always goes wrong in a low cost carrier.

But everything went well.

The online booking was efficient. We departed on time. The luggage was intact.

Will I fly again via Tiger Airways?

DEFINITELY!

My dear college friend arrived from Singapore and whenever she's here in Manila, I treat her to a sumptuous meal. I made a reservation at HEAT Edsa Shangri-la for a lunch buffet. Electrolux HUSH Happier at Home

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

It has been four months since we transferred to our new home. The first few weeks were kinda stressful because of the unpacking and cleaning and decorating. Most of our weekends were spent sourcing for furniture and accents. Some days, you'll hear the sound of the power drill and the buzzing of the vacuum cleaner afterwards.

Now that everything is in order, me and hubby finally were able to enjoy the weekends. Our bedroom feels like a hotel room so we need not check in somewhere to have a "staycation". All I have to do is open the curtains and enjoy the view of the trees from the huge floor to ceiling glass window from the master's bedroom.

The best thing about spending a quiet and relaxing weekend at home is it's OUR home. Everything we need is within reach. There is no checkout time to worry about. We could watch what we want with our dvd collection. We could eat whatever we find appealing in the refrigerator without being charged of the pricey items in a hotel mini bar. There is no room service but there is food delivery. Or we could just sit on the bed, play music from the iPod, surf the internet with the laptop and iPad (and free unlimited wifi).

Relaxing. And inexpensive.

Krispy Kreme Baked Creations

Monday, February 11, 2013

Thank goodness my nephew gave me a box of six of Krispy Kreme Baked Creations. I love their donuts and would only buy their donuts. But eversince I tasted these goodies, I want to try all the variants. (I still LOVE the Original Glazed though)

I was at Araneta Gateway this afternoon and luckily there's a Krispy Kreme branch. Instead of buying donuts, I bought these:

Bacon and Cheese Pull Apart, Sausage and Cheese Pull Apart (hey, where's the swirl??), Beef and Cheese (this is so yummy!), Chocolate Chip Kruffin (Yum, too!), Mango Kruffin (Yum Yum, too!) and Double Chocolate Kruffin (Yum, Yum, Yum!!!)

Teatime Stories for Women

Thursday, January 31, 2013

I love reading books. And I'm glad that most of my friends love reading books... and gifting me with books. One of my favorite books to read when I'm feeling a bit down is Teatime Stories for Women. I don't remember the year it was given to me. But I do remember that this book is from Angela.

I've been feeling so low these past few days. My days were spent lying on the bed. Reading Teatime Stories for Women.

I hate feeling like this. If only I could do something permanent about it. I should have attended my aerodance last night. Might have helped a little.

But I guess I'm a bit okay now.

~*~*~

Dear Lord,
May I never be so focused on my own pain
that I forget others need me.
For I've discovered that as I reach out
to ease the pain of others,
my own pain is eased as well.

Aerodance: Losing 5 Pounds and a Phone

Sunday, January 20, 2013

I have been attending the night aerodance sessions at Marikina Sports Park and last night, I lost more than I should. I shed a few pounds, sweat myself out... and lost my Samsung Galaxy (which was a replacement of a previously stolen Samsung phone).

Things I should remember:

1. Marikina is not as safe as it used to be. It was waaay better when the Fernandos were in charged of the city.

2. The guards are useless. They did not offer any help. They were making useless remarks. And just to shut me up, asked me to write my name and address on the cover of a notebook (I'm not even sure if it's a logbook or if he'll ever make a report of the incident.)

3. Never trust anymore.

4. Switch to another brand! (Hahaha!!!)

And by the way, my home and car keys were tied (two knots) to the phone case. And the phone case was hidden under a pile of shirts inside another bag. The thief managed to leave the keys. And the thief was able to steal another phone.

This incident will NOT stop me from dancing!

But I do hope Marikina will do something about this. I was told lots of people's stuff get stolen at the sports park.

Sad. Sad. Sad.

I wish the thief is not a Marikenyo.

Resolution Problems

Thursday, January 03, 2013

You know how you're supposed to come up with a list of "resolutions" at the beginning of the year to try to make yourself a better person?

Well, the problem is, it's not easy for me to think of ways to improve myself, because I'm already pretty much one of the best people I know.

-Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3

Well, the above statement does not apply to me. The truth is, I think know I need a lot of improvements. I'm a work in progress. I acknowledge my flaws I need to work on. I always pray to God to help me become a better person worthy of Him and the people who unconditionally love me.

May I be better than I was yesterday.

May I be the best person that I can be.
