Family time matters. This McDeliverback video makes me love McDonald's even more!

Saturday, October 15

Most of us were able to spend time a lot of time with our family during the lockdown. We were able to have breakfast together while enjoying the Sausage McMuffin, hashbrown, pancakes, and brewed coffee. During weekends, we binge-watch on our favorites television series and snack on the family favorite BFF Fries and McFloat. No matter what time our cravings hit us, there's a food delivery rider working hard to bring our food to us.

McDonald's McDeliverback video gave me a peek into the lives of Jessie, Nelia, and Rey. The Filipinos are very family-oriented. But sometimes we have to make some sacrifices in order to give our loved ones a better life. Jessie lives with his grandmother and his schedule is graveyard shift so he usually sleep all day and barely has time to spend with his grandmother. I'm a lola's girl and I know how much our grandparents yearn to have someone to talk and share stories. Nelia who is a mom also doesn't get to be with her daughters. I felt the longing of her daughters for their mom because my mom was also a working woman when me and my sisters were growing up. Rey has to miss bonding with his son and has not visited his mother who lives alone in the province because of work.

Jessie, Nelia, and Rey have no idea that a big surprise was waiting for them. They didn't know that the order booked on the McDonald's branch was not for them to deliver a food. Instead, they found their family and friends waiting for them.

The smile on the faces of Nelia's daughter is priceless! Whatever tampo they have for not being able to be with their mom most of the time was replaced with happiness. They understand that their mom's love is not measured by the length of time but spend together but by the happy memories they share.

Grandparents are the sweetest! I really love this scene. No matter how old we get, we will always be our lola's baby :)  I'm sure Jessie is the favorite apo.

I really got teary-eyed when Rey and his mom finally saw each other after so many years apart. Made me miss my mom so much.

My family's language of love is eating. We literally spend a lot of time eating while chatting endlessly.  Although I see my sisters and nephew very often, I suddenly missed them after watching the video. I called up my sisters and told them to come over for lunch.

McDonald's has been doing the tradition of giving back to their delivery riders in the past two years. These riders have been making us happy all the time. I'm glad that through McDonald's McDeliverback program, these hardworking riders were also able to spend precious time with their loved ones and share a meal together.

Watch the video HERE and make sure you also surprise your family with their favorites from McDonald's.

Uratex Celebrates Family Memories

Wednesday, December 13

I always take a photo of me on the bed of every hotel room I stay whenever I travel. It's a reminder that no matter how comfy the bed of my home away from home, it still doesn't feel the same way when I finally arrive home and rest on my own bed.

When I got married and left my parents home, I was excited to start a life with my husband but I was sad that I will no longer be with my family. The Saturday sleepovers at my parents bedroom and the endless story telling until we doze off. The laughter and my dad hushing us because the neighbors might complain. The lazy rainy afternoons watching a movie while we were all tucked in bed and the occasional spill of soda and popcorn.

Memories. If only I could freeze time. My parents are gone but I'm glad the family has lots of bonding moments.

Last Thursday, I was at my mother's hometown and we passed by the vacation house that they had built. It was supposed to be their retirement home. They never got to live there though because they don't want to leave me and my sisters in Manila. I sold the house last year. I remember we were all so excited decorating our bedrooms.

Uratex Philippines, the undisputed leader in the foam manufacturing industry believes that family love and comfort are always at the forefront in the tradition of selfless care and service to the Filipinos. Uratex believes that family love, caring and looking out for the welfare and greater comfort of each other is vital.  Each Uratex bed provides ultimate comfort to promote a healthful and relaxed sleep night after night. This helps invigorate the body so it will remain fit and fully charged to make each family member ready to face life’s daily challenges. Whenever we need a new bed mattress, me and my mom would go to Uratex Marikina Showroom.

I was watching Regalo by Uratex Classic and I found myself crying. I remember the sacrifices of my parents. I am the eldest child. I promised my parents that I will take care of my sisters until I die. I just wish my parents didn't have to leave so soon.

For the elder brother on the video, the arrival of their mother was the perfect time to tell her that he is now ready to take on the responsibility of caring for the family’s needs. With their mother’s long-awaited homecoming, it will be the perfect opportunity to create new memories again together—as one family.

It used to be me and my husband travelling and having staycations. Now, we bring the whole family! There are things we could not bring back anymore, but we can always create new memories to cherish for the rest of our lives.

Kalyeserye Inspired Family Reunion

Monday, January 4

After almost a year of preparation for the Carlos Clan Reunion, members of our families gathered at the Plenary Hall of the Marikina Convention Center last January 3. It is our clan's tradition to hold a reunion every first Sunday of January. The family has been doing this since 1977.

I am super proud to belong to the Carlos Clan of Marikina. The attendance was overwhelming. I must admit that facebook has helped us to connect with each other. Now that's using social media productively! There are also relatives from abroad who arrived.

My Lola Lily with "Alden"

Since most of the Carlos family members are into Eat Bulaga and Kalyeserye, we decided to have a #Kalyeserye inspired reunion. Even our raffle items include Nescafe, Hanabishi and O+ USA cellphone.

Here's a video of the dance presentation of the host family Lucio Carlos :)

Maraming salamat sa lahat ng mga kaangkan na tumulong upang maging matagumpay ang ating taunan na pagtitipon. Maraming salamat din sa lahat na naglaan ng oras para dumalo.

A Father's Search For His Korean-American Twins Born 1967

Sunday, May 3

"My name is Allen Thomas and I am looking for my son and daughter, whom I've not seen since they were lost to me over 40 years ago. I was an American soldier in South Korea, met and married their mother, had our twins, and then lost them when I had to return stateside and she would not return with me, or allow me to take the children. By the time I was able to make arrangements to go back for the children and fight for custody, she had adopted them out and would not give me any information regarding their whereabouts. I have been searching for decades, unsuccessfully, but have decided that perhaps Facebook could help me to find them. Please pass this around and help me find my children. Thank you."

Sandia Lynn Thomas

James Allen Thomas

Fraternal twins – boy & girl – born in Seoul, Korea, at Songnim Gynaecology, Namyong-dong, Seoul, on September 10, 1967. The twins were adopted out by their mother in the late 1970’s. Their names were James Allen Thomas and Sandia Lynn Thomas. The mother’s name was Sun Kun Thomas, born December 5, 1942. Father, Allen Thomas, was U.S. Army. We have photo’s, birth certificates, and other legal documents. Would very much like to find both children.

A community feast honoring the 1st birthday of Mr. Allen Thomas' twins.
He and his wife, the twins, and her child from a previous relationship
(who she has kept, as far as we know, and not adopted out)

Let us help Mr. Allen Thomas find his children. Please share this article to reach as many people as possible that may lead to the whereabouts of Sandia and James.

The Carlos Clan: Tracing Our Roots

Wednesday, January 21

Lipi ng Carlos
Angkang Eladio-Manuela
Reunion 1980

I'm a proud Carlos and Marikenyo. Last January, I attended our clan's annual reunion held at the Marikina Convention Center. I have no recollection of any other family reunion I have attended until my father posted a photo of a 4-yr old me on the very first reunion of the Carlos Clan.

I was the only grandchild back then. This reunion was held at the vast property of our Tiya Leonor somewhere along Sumulong Highway (I think it is now Agnesville).

We have grown in numbers but our family tree has not been updated yet. Next year, it will be the Lucio Carlos family (where I belong) who will host the reunion. As early as now, we are already conceptualizing for the big event. Committees have been set up while I work on updating the clan's document.

"Ang ulat na ito ay isinagawa ni Pedro Carlos simula pa noong ika-27 ng Abril, taong 1980 sa tulong ng mga pamunuan ng angkan. Ang pinagkunan ng mga datos ay ang Kaka Biyo (Toribio Carlos)."

My father handed me this 15-page document listing the family members. Almost 35 years has passed. This is a tough assignment for me but with the help of surviving family members and the social media especially facebook, I'm sure I'll be able to update this.

Here's a little background of our clan.

Eladio Carlos is the son of Candido Carlos and Juana Santos. He married Manuela, the daughter of Nicomedes Santos and Benita Santiago. They were blessed with 13 children. They are:

Severo Carlos
Igmidio Carlos
Leon Carlos (married to Pelagia)
Alejandra Carlos
Lucio Carlos (married to Cayetana)
Martin Carlos (married to Maria; second wife Ipang)
Faustina Carlos
Felicisimo Carlos (married to Barcelisa)
Magdalena Carlos-Samson (married to Candido Samson)
Toribio Carlos (married to Loleng)
Marcela Carlos-Victorino (married to Juaning Victorino)
Felipe Carlos (married to Atang)
Emilio Carlos (married to Victoria)

We have relatives from San Roque, Calumpang, Cainta, Bulacan and Pampanga. If you are a Carlos, chances are we  are related. Let's reconnect!

Look me up on facebook  or leave a comment here and let's get in touch :)

Prayer For Having A Baby

Tuesday, May 20

Your birth, O Jesus, brought much joy to Joseph and Mary. Heaven and earth rejoiced to see new life and hope upon Your coming. Truly there is no greater sign of God's immense love for the world than His love becoming flesh and dwelling among us.

O Jesus, grant me and my spouse, the grace to have the joy of our love becoming flesh. We have been married for years. All these years we have been desolate for want of a child. Grant us the same joy You have bestowed upon Abraham and Sarah by the birth of Isaac; the very same delight of Zacariah and Elizabeth with the coming of John; the very same pride Orazio and Giusseppa felt with their son, Francisco Forgione, our dear Padre Pio.

O Jesus, cleanse our hearts from our sins and selfishness that deny us the grace of having a child. Heal our wounded spirit and body. Make our generative faculties fertile. But most of all enkindle our passion and love for each other as husband and wife.

If you will answer our plea, my spouse and I pledge to give our child a good name. Together we will raise our child in love and holiness, in compassion and charity, in sincere devotion and service to you and your people. We, too, duly swear that if ever You are to call our child in the service of the Church,  we are going to support our child wholeheartedly in fulfilling Your Divine will.

This is our desire, O Jesus, to have a child of our own. Do grant our petition for we ask it in Your Name. In the name of Your gentle parents Joseph and Mary, and in the name of our dear Padre Pio. AMEN.

The Miracle Prayer

Lord Jesus, I come before Thee, just as I am. I am sorry for my sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In Thy Name, I forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce Satan, the evil spirits and all their works. I give Thee my entire self, Lord Jesus, I accept Thee as my Lord God and Savior. Heal me, change me, strengthen me in body, soul and spirit.

Come Lord Jesus, cover me with Thy Precious Blood, and fill me with Thy Holy Spirit. I love Thee Lord Jesus, I praise Thee Lord Jesus, I thank Thee Lord Jesus, I shall follow Thee every day of my life. AMEN.

Mary, My Mother, Queen of Peace, all the Angels and Saints, please help me. AMEN.

~*~*~
Say these prayers faithfully, no matter how you feel. When you come to the point where you sincerely mean each word with all your heart, Jesus will change your whole life in a very special way. You will see.
