Help Save Baby Kelsey Alagon

Thursday, December 21

Update:

Baby Kelsey has gained her wings on January 12, 2018 while she was confined at the Philippine Heart Center. The family will forever be grateful to those who have extended financial assistance. Please pray for baby Kelsey.

=====

My cousin Katrina Carlos-Alagon and her husband Bryan Alagon are expecting their 3rd baby this December 2017. It is an exciting addition to the family and we are all very happy to welcome the new baby girl. Katrina and Bryan are blessed with two children, Khalil and Keira.

An unexpected trial came to the family when Katrina found out that the new baby has Multiple Congenital Anomalies after undergoing a series of medical tests on one of her regular visits to her OB. The tests revealed that the baby has hypoplastic heart syndrome, underdeveloped lungs, stomach bubble, and cleft lip and cleft palate.

Katrina is advised by her doctor to have an emergency Caesarian procedure to avoid any more complications to the baby’s delicate heart condition. An ambulance will then bring the baby to the Philippine Heart Center to undergo immediate heart operation.

The doctors are positive that the baby will have a chance to live since the Philippines is already equipped with state-of-the-art technology. However, the procedure will cost them P2,000,000 (US$40,000).

Although the couple are both employed, Kat’s mom recently suffered a stroke and Bryan’s mom recently won the fight against the Big C. They are financially struggling right now.

You've helped me before during the fundraising campaign of my nephew Baby Bien's Liver Transplant in 2012 and we are forever grateful. I am knocking on your kind and generous hearts once again as we are faced with another mission to save a baby's life.

If you wish to extend financial help, you can deposit directly to the account of the baby's mom

A Mom's Letter: Support Ayesha's Liver Transplant

Thursday, March 10

Shaina Ayesha Ramos Nieves was born on April 28, 2014 with twin sister, in Quezon City, Philippines. Ayesha and her twin Brianna was born below weight birth. During their growth days Ayesha’s growth development was a lot different from her twin sister. We noticed also her yellowish skin complexion and we informed her pediatric doctor about it. The medical term referred to as “Jaundice”. On her 11th weeks she was confined in the hospital to rule out the cause of the “jaundice”. A month of confinement in the hospital she was diagnosed with a rare life-threatening disease known as “BILIARY ATRESIA.” Biliary atresia, is a rare disease and only affects about one out of every 18,000 infants. And liver transplantation is one definite treatment for biliary atresia. Just 6 days after the result, she underwent an operation called “Kasai Procedure,” the first treatment for the illness. The only thing we can do is trust God for His Divine Mercy, we prayed that the procedure becomes successful and that she’ll regain good health. The operation went well in the 3 months period. On November 2014 the result of her laboratories was not good. Her liver is getting bigger, her heart was affected, and she had blood transfusion.

The doctor's advice was the immediate need of “Liver Transplant” the soonest possible.

Again, we Trust in the Lord’s Divine Grace and Mercy, that holds our Faith, Trust and Love to the Baby Ayesha, but our family do not have financial capability for the cost of the operation, ranging from 3 to 4 Million Pesos (89,760.00 USD)

Our Baby Ayesha is a strong and joyful baby, even though she’s suffering pain for this kind of disease. She’s still fighting for her life. And we will do our very best to help the baby.

With this, our family humbly asks for your benevolent deeds, and help to raise the funds needed for the operation. Uphold us in prayers in this time of trials, and thank you for those who are praying with us. We know that God will provide the need.

Sincerely,

Mary Jane Ramos Nieves

Celebrate with Songs of Hope: A Christmas Fundraising Concert for Breast Cancer Awareness

Monday, November 16

I lost my mom to breast cancer. It was a long battle that has made us emotionally and financially drained. She was on remission for 8 years. We all thought she was completely healed. And then on November 2009, the cancer returned. Eight months later, she gained her wings.

Breast Cancer is a disease which can affect men, women and children, and can be fatal if not detected or treated at its early stages. The fact is that 3 out of 10 women who live in the Philippines are suffering from Breast Cancer. This means that 30% of the entire female population in the country has this health ailment.

Advanced medical treatments are making it easier for more patients to survive Breast Cancer, but these methods are quite expensive. Because of this, most people cannot afford the procedure. External factors like the present economic state of the nation, the issue of inflation and taxes, or that they are either unemployed or are working for minimum wage or less are not helping things either. It is heartbreaking to know that many individuals choose to ignore Breast Cancer because they would rather use whatever money they have to feed their families or pay the bills.

Lyric Opera of the Philippines and the Resorts World Manila is organizing a special campaign for this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness. “Celebrate with Songs of Hope: A Christmas Fundraising Concert” will be held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila on December 16, 2015. The event will start at 7:30pm as part of an ongoing campaign to fight Breast Cancer, a disease that has claimed thousands of lives over the years. The organizers aim to educate people about the symptoms of Breast Cancer, and what they can do to survive it.

Each ticket you buy will send one Breast Cancer patient to much needed Chemotherapy Treatment.

You will be treated to a night of song and music courtesy of the conductor Chino Toledo and the Grupo 20/21 Orchestra. Artists who are expected to perform at the concert are Jose Mari Chan, Anna Feleo, Noel Azcona, Randy Gilongo, Sherwin Sozon, Franco and Ayen Laurel, John Glenn Gaerlan, Jane Wee, Andrea Melisa Camba, Stephanie Aguilar, Dave de Jesus, David Cicero Pado, Raymond Muyot, Nomher Nival, Mary Patrice Pacis, Naomi Sison and Marie Antonette Pascual.

The ticket prices are as follows:

SVIP -        PhP 3,000
VIP-           PhP 2,800
GOLD -      PhP 2,500
SILVER -   PhP 2,200

Pintig Puso Foundation: Art For A Cause

Monday, September 21

Do you have an artwork (digital art, painting, sketch) that you are willing to sell for a cause?  You can name your price and once sold, all the proceeds will be donated to Pintig Puso Foundation of the Philippine Heart Center.

For more information, please get in touch with Avie at (63) 906.207.8877

About Pintig Puso Foundation

The Philippine Heart Center (PHC) Pintig Puso Foundation came into being as a response to seeing indigent in-patients of the Adult Cardiology Division with symptomatic bradycardia (dangerously “slow heart rates”) restrained to bed for weeks or months because of temporary transvenous pacemakers placed through the groin causing undue protracted hospitalizations simply because they could not afford to buy the life-saving permanent cardiac pacemakers that they need. This was in July of 2002. The PHC Pintig Puso Foundation, a non-stock, non-profit organization was established — a then emerging hope for this predicament. Dr. Noe Babilonia, head of the Adult Cardiology, together with eleven other incorporators, including Adult Cardiology staff members as well as hospital employees from the Finance and Social Services Division joined hearts and minds to realize this hope.

Its objective was to raise funds to help these indigent patients procure their permanent cardiac pacemakers. With meager financial capacity, the Foundation holds and mainly relies upon, up until now, on its annual Post-Graduate Scientific Courses to generate funds for the pacemaker needs of these patients. In the recent years, we’ve seen the needs grow and so we decided to include giving out other kinds of cardiovascular devices in addition to pacemakers. These patients are qualified social welfare patients who do not have means of acquiring these devices by themselves.

Years and years after its inception (we’re going on 12 this year!) and to date, a total of 68 pacemakers given out to indigent patients, the Foundation continues to reach out and help as we remain steadfast and true to our mission:

We are men and women

We enable our fellowmen to have a second chance at life

We make it simple

We love life

This we are infinitely grateful to and we make possible through the help of our annual Post-Graduate Scientific Courses’ sponsors and benefactors, and other kind-spirited institutions, companies and individuals who have helped us by way of financial or “in kind pacemaker donations”

Surely a lot more will be needing and surely, we will be scampering to help…

Everyday is an occasion to fill other people’s bucket. Help us fill that bucket…

One pacemaker at a time, we know we all can make a difference. A second chance at life.

Save Sybyl Shynn: Liver Transplant Fundraising

Thursday, July 23

This cute little girl is baby Sybyl Shynn. She is now 13 months old. I first met her last December 2014 at a Christmas Party of Biliary Atresia Babies. She looks healthy back then but her eyes are yellowish. She is suffering from a rare chronic liver disease.

Don't be deceived by her chubby cheeks. She is underweight for her age. She has skinny arms and legs, dark yellow skin and a big tummy. She needs to undergo liver transplantation the soonest time possible but the procedure will cost P4,000,000.  Her parents has been raising funds by selling pre-loved clothes, cookies and fundraising shirts. It was sad when someone even accused Lav (Sybyl's mom) that the fundraising is a scam when she asked for help in instagram.

If you wish to help, in any way, please get in touch with Lav.
