Pacquiao v Marquez
Thursday, November 10
On November 13, Sunday morning, my beloved Philippines will be traffic free and probably crime free. Most of the roads will be deserted. The atmosphere will be more solemn compared to Good Friday. Television screens will be installed on tricycle and jeep terminals (and the drivers are somewhat irritated if you hire them). People will opt to attend the very early mass or the afternoon mass. Those with satellite discs and cable subscriptions will hold mini family gatherings -- finger foods and beer overflowing. Other will go to cinemas and sports bar.
Why?
Because the boxing Filipino hero Manny Pacquiao will again bring glory (yeah, I bet he will win!) to the country.

I'm not very adventurous with nail color. I want the color to be as natural as possible. I only buy these two shades from The FACE Shop. I've been dreaming of one day painting my nails red. But that would probably come after I have gathered enough courage to color my lips red.

I just turned 35 last September and suddenly I have become concerned with my skin. I started visiting my new dermatologist on a regular basis to address some skin problems. I have a very oily skin. I thought if I wash my face as often as I can, it will be good for my skin. Oh, I know it's not right. But I love the feeling of a newly washed face. Lately, I noticed that my skin is now oily and at the same time dry.
My dermatologist advised me to stop my toner. Continue with the Cetaphil Soap and moisturizer and limit washing my face to only twice a day. I was using the Quick and Clean line from The Face Shop. When I visited the store recently, a new product was introduced to me. The Wrinkle Stop Abyssine line.
I only bought the Wrinkle Stop Abyssine Emulsion. According to the label, Abyssine is a survival molecule harvested from microorganisms that inhabits in hydrothermal vents (huh.. scary?!) in the deep sea of the Galapagos Islands 3,000 meters deep from the water's surface. I really do not know how these molecules will help my skin. But I've read from the website that the Wrinkle Stop Abyssine Emulsion is suggested for the revitalization and nourishment of the skin. It is an emulsion that helps in the prevention of wrinkles, gives moisture and gets rid of dead skin cells. I was hoping that they have a smaller size but it only comes in a 130ml bottle. I have been using this for a month now and so far, I am happy with the result. The emulsion also does not feel heavy on the skin. I tried the Arsainte Eco-Therapy Vitalist Serum, after a while my face feels so sticky. Good thing I just got it as a freebie.
I also got myself the Herb Day Lip and Eye Makeup Remover. I use this to remove my waterproof mascara, eyeliner and lipstick. Although this does not remove all traces of eye makeup, I still need to clean my eyes with Maybelline Make Up Remover Eye & Lip, then clean my face with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and lastly, wash my face with Dove White Beauty Bar. Somehow my problem with bringing the moisture back has already been addressed. I'll be visiting my dermatologist again two weeks from now for my facial. Next problem to address, the pores!
Another item I bought is Face it Designing Cake Eyebrow. I've been wanting to learn how to fix my not so defined brows. I'm not sure if this product is good. I am still not getting the effect I want. But for now, I think it's more of my lack of skill to fix my eyebrows.
Whenever I go to the mall and if there is a FACE Shop store, I am so fond of this Korean brand and must visit the store and buy something. I was at the Shangri-la Plaza mall last Wednesday and I really needed to drop by The FACE Shop to buy a new nail polish. I ended buying other stuff that I think I want need. I love most of their skincare products but what I love most are the freebies. Yes, I love freebies. And every time I visit The FACE Shop store, they give me samples of their products.
I was given samples of the Arsainte Eco-Therapy Vitalist Serum and the Phytogenic Infinite Foundation SPF20. I visited the website to learn more about these products.
The Arsainte Eco-Therapy Vitalist Serum is a serum that contains the "Vital Tea Complex". The effect is to keep the moisture of the skin and give it a healthy energy. This product works well for those who have normal skin and is ideally applied after using the Arsainte Eco-Therapy Extreme Moisture Tonic.
After applying the serum, I put on the Phytogenic Infinite Foundation. I like how it glided on my skin. It also doesn't feel heavy. I just had my facial and some pricking the day before. The foundation alone did not conceal some red spots. I'm not fond though of using concealer. I just finished this off with a mineral powder.

It's costume time once again for kids. Celebrate the Halloween at Shangri-la Plaza Mall on October 23, 1:30 - 4:30 PM at the Grand Atrium. Only 300 kids will be accommodated. There will be a magic show, games and prizes, food booths and of course, Trick or Treat around the mall.
So who will you be this Halloween?
I received an e-mail from Shangri-la about the special screening of The Phantom of the Opera at Shang Cineplex. The screening will run from October 12 - 18, 2011. I got so excited because the first day of screening is my husband's birthday and we are actually planning to go to Shangri-la.
The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall is a lavish production shown last October 2 to mark the 25th anniversary of the musical. The event was broadcasted live via satellite across the globe. Ramin Karimloo plays the Phantom and Sierra Boggess plays Christine.

I have been noticing some unsightly growth on my neck and quite a few on my face but they were really too small to notice. My husband said he was not actually aware that I have warts (or he was just being a darling). Recently though, it seems they have grown in numbers and had me on a panic mode. I decided to visit my dermatologist in Cardinal Santos Medical Center to have them removed.
According to Dr Grace Chua-Ty, these abnormal skin growth are caused by a strain of the human papilloma virus or the HPV. These warts could spread from one person to another by using shared objects such as towels, scrubs and even soaps. She told me that these warts are slow growing, but in my case, she said the the reason why it seems to have spread out on my neck and a few on my chest, stomach and back was because of the sponge I use for my bath gel.
Guilty.
I don't just use the sponge to turn the bath gel into lather. I also rub my skin rigorously with the sponge. And thus spread the warts. I also do not wash and dry the sponge under the sun after using. I simply hang it in the bathroom. She told me that if I insists on using bath gel, either I use the sponge one time and then throw (way too expensive to do that!) or use a face towel to lather then make sure the towel is washed and dried after every use (I'm too lazy for that). OR simply use soap.
I still have half a bottle of M&S Essential Extracts Peach and Almond Foam Bath and twice used Estee Lauder Sensuous Silk Shower Cream which I have to discard with a heavy heart. I so love their scents but I'd rather simplify my bath rituals and shift to soap.
The warts marks are already gone after a week. Happy me. I'll be visiting my dermatologist again tomorrow for a facial and some moisturizing treatment.

I was not aware of The Face Shop brand until 2008 when a friend introduced me to the brand. The Face Shop is a Korean cosmetic brand founded in 1962 as a wholesale manufacturer. The brand went into retail in 2003 and launched its first retail store in Myungdong.
I have been on a lookout for cosmetic products that is skin-friendly considering the fact that I have a very sensitive skin. I have read on The Face Shop's website that their product has combined the benefits of both nature and science. I have also read positive reviews from other girls with sensitive skins who are using The Face Shop and are very satisfied with how their skins react with the products.
During my recent visit to their store, I bought a nail polish and I fell in love with it. I love the color and how the polish glides on my nail. I'm way too conservative with nail colors and this color matched my preference.
The blemish balm cream or more commonly known as BB Cream is the latest craze among Asian women. I am currently using a different brand which I am kinda satisfied but I'm still on a hunt for something better so I will definitely try The Face Shop's BB Cream soon.

Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011
Monday, September 5
My husband wants this so bad. He wouldn't settle for any other shoes. We went mall hopping just to find a pair that fits. Nike stores in our country do not carry a complete line of new products and most have limited stocks and sizes. This is one disadvantage of living in the Philippines -- the availability of great merchandise. We often resort to buying online and have stuff delivered to us. Our Ferrari polo shirts were even shipped from Germany. The shipping cost is.. oh forget it.
I will not really understand how wonderful this pair is. He said it is lightweight and thus create quickness. My husband is already good in playing basketball. I'm sure this shoes will make him even better. I believe in Nike shoes technology because I have a pair of Nike Air Max 90. And the shoes feel different compared to other brands. So they say, Rajon Rondo is comfortable with Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 as he take on his defenders and Russell Westbrook is quicker than anybody else as he get from baseline to baseline... I say, I wanna watch my husband on his upcoming tournament and see how he play in his new pair of shoes.

"Life is about cleaning up the crap and, while you're doing it,
being okay with the fact that you have to do it.... A word of caution.
You can't get caught up in the crap! If you do,
you will surely lose sight of the real meaning of life and lose your Self."
The book YESTERDAY I CRIED is an inspirational book about celebrating the lessons of living and loving. I'm so lucky to have a friend who knows the kind of books I like. This book is such a treasure. I recently installed the Kindle for Android on my phone and I hope I'll find an e-book version of this.

Lacoste: Celebrating 40 Years at Roland Garros
Sunday, July 3
Lacoste celebrates 40 years at Roland Garros since it has become the first brand to sponsor the French Open. And because we are tennis enthusiasts, we SHOULD have that collection! The saleslady told us that they only have a limited supply of the collection and they do not put them on display. So unless you ask or knows someone from the store or in our case, we got lucky a customer bought the Roland Garros polo shirt...

The latest beauty craze especially for the Asians is the Blemish Balm Cream or most commonly referred to as the BB Cream. I've been reading good reviews about BB Cream and I thought it is about time that I try this product. I was not blessed with a flawless skin. I suffer from breakouts every now and then. When I've read about this product, somehow it gave me hope that I will achieve at least a skin that is close to flawless.
I went to Watsons and saw that the Maybelline brand also carries a BB Cream. The Maybelline Clear Smooth Aqua Gel Foundation works for me and I have been using it for years already so I am hopeful the BB Cream will work for me too.
I was kinda hesitant to really buy this because of the "one shade fits all" written on the box. I do not believe that statement. But the 8 in 1 benefit somehow made me want to try. And who can resist the moisturizes like skin care, protects like sun block (it has SPF26), and covers like foundation it promises.

Cafe By The Ruins
Saturday, April 2
I recently visited Baguio to attend the wedding of a dear friend. it was actually our first time to meet in person after years of communicating online. We met through a blog site and what has started out as a simple comment on a blog post blossomed into friendship. My friend and her not-so-new husband met with me and my husband for breakfast the day after the wedding. Isn't she sweet! She suggested that we try out Cafe by the Ruins . What an angel! I really want to try that restaurant because of the reviews I have read when I was planning the trip.
The four of us ordered the Filipino "Lon-Si-Log". This is not your ordinary longsilog. The longganisa is cooked without the casing. A bit crispy and tastes garlicky. The meal includes a fruit cup and coffee. The free coffee came with what I thought was a mini cookie. My friend told us that it is the sweetener. You simply drop it into your cup and then let it melt. It was great she told us that or I might have eaten it like a cookie. My friend's husband wanted us to try the Sticky Buns. Too bad it was not available. He instead ordered Glazed Cinnamon Rolls. I'm not a big fan of anything cinnamon but I genuinely loved their cinnamon rolls. I am curious with the Crispy Tapa but did not find it in the Breakfast menu. Must try when I return! It was our last day in Baguio. After the breakfast, me and my husband just head back to The Manor to check out then we're off to Victory Liner.
The newlywed gave us "pabaon" to have something to eat during the 5 hour trip. I was sleeping most of the trip and so the "pabaon" was eaten the next morning for breakfast. I love the kamote bread. I had it paired with butter, strawberry jam, sunny side up and bacon. For the basil bread, I cooked pasta for dinner and they complemented each other.
